The Betrayer and the Healer - all rolled into one.

A Little Bit of Judas - music, lyrics by Steve Dube

See the poor man walking down the street, He's pushing a carriage, looking for something to eat. I'm sitting here in my Grand Cherokee, Got a good day job and it's taking care of me. I'm following Jesus, and I just can't help but wonder If there's a little bit of Judas in all of us.

There's Sue the manager, she's been taking care of business, Looking for another job, looking like the rest of us. She put her faith in the corporation. They took her talent, her youth and even her soul. Now she's feeling used, and she can't help but wonder If there's a little bit of Judas in all of us.

Oh, when will we ever learn That to put your faith in man is to get burned. You can only look back and see the misery. There's a little bit of Judas in all of us.

Watch out for Reverend Tom, he's on the go now, go now. He has his down times, they never show now. You can find him most every Tuesday Working with the inmates, teaching about the Judgment Day. The children love him, and they can't help but wonder If there's a little bit of Jesus in all of us.

As followers of Jesus, we have the capacity to be Betrayer and Healer, and it's just a matter of circumstance regarding which one will pop to the surface. How many of us have driven through the city in our air-conditioned cars and have looked upon the homeless. We thank God for blessing us with jobs and homes, and we drive on. Then there are times we've been the victim of a betrayer - we've put our faith in something or someone other than God. Of course, it's easy to point the finger at corporate greed when layoffs happen...but what about misplaced faith in seemingly good and God-honoring things? Perhaps you or someone you know has even walked away from the church because of something the pastor or other religious leader said or did.

All people, including ourselves, will always have the capacity for disappointing and even downright hurting other people. But we also have a great capacity for loving and healing, and it requires a conscious effort daily to make that happen. In the case of Rev. Tom, he turned his past life experiences into a ministry of reaching out to the inmates in Juvenile Detention, and in him, these young lives saw the very model of Christ.

Who will you be a model of Christ for today? Who's life will be forever altered after their encounter with you? Will you be the Betrayer, or the Healer?
