Hammer Records Interview

#CMW Artist Showcase - Michael Wood Band

Victoria group, the Michael Wood Band is going all the way across the country to bring their music to Canadian Music Week. We had a nice chat with the boys about their upcoming show in Toronto.

Hammer Records: Tell us what you think of when you think Canadian Music?

Michael Wood Band: I think of killer good times. Canadians for whatever reason have this quality that sets us apart from the rest of the world. At every level you can just find amazing music from Wintersleep to the Dudes all the way up to Drake and the Weekend, Canadian music just has this energy to it. That one of the coolest things about CMW is the whole country getting together and acknowledging how hard we all f**king rock.

Hammer Records: How did you get involved in Canadian Music Week?

Michael Wood Band: Growing up touring and playing music in Canada CMW was always the goal. Just like every Canadian musician dreams of winning a Juno award or making it on to CBC’s Q playing CMW in Toronto is one of our earliest ambitions and we absolutely love it. It’s a highlight of the year and not just from a touring perspective. The people involved and the people of the city of Toronto are the perfect hosts. It really says a lot about the festival and the city that small town Victoria boys can come play and stay in a city that some of us have never been to and feel perfectly at home welcomed by the music community and by the people as a whole. This is our third year in a row playing here, and we will always include Toronto on our tour dates.

Hammer Records: What do you have planned for Canadian Music Week?

Michael Wood Band: Well we very much plan on being the hardest rocking and the most memorable band at the venue for the night. Pints will be drank, glasses will be smashed, dances will be danced and good times will be had by all. Come on by and we will buy you a beer.

Hammer Records: What message do you want to send to Canadians listening to your music?

Michael Wood Band: Have a good time. Music is fun it should always be fun and if we can get across and help people find even half the good times we get out of making and playing music for people across the country we’ll consider our job done. Life’s to short to not enjoy every second.

Hammer Records: Whats coming up for you?

Michael Wood Band: We’re always working on new music. Right now we are working on our third album, although we may release an EP ahead of that just because of all the new material. We will be in laying down tracks soon. Right now we’re just in the process of planning our summer tour , that will once again take us from coast to coast of this great country. Looking forward to seeing you Toronto.

As for where you can find our music the best experience is always going be live but make sure your ready to rock hard. Also we have these lovely links:
