Northern Colorado Scene Magazine - Dirty University CD Review

4 Stars out of 5 With all due respect, the rap scene throughout Northern Colorado isn’t exactly a prevalent force. Admittedly, the beards, bikes and beer culture of our Vanilla Valley seems to demand more from the bluegrass and jam band genres. Local artist Dirty D, however, presents a new look at local hip hop with his recent release of Dirty But So Clean. The album is ridden with talent and lyrical aptitude, each track surrounded by thought and solid beats. The high level of production and time put into the album is evident from the start, with “Pony Boy” and “Dirty University/Too Cool For School” making up the most memorable and captivating of the album’s best tracks. Samples range from The Marvelettes’ “Mr. Postman” to dubstep excerpts, representing Dirty But So Clean’s wide realm of influence. With a résumé that includes supporting artists such as Tech N9ne, Murs, Bone Thugs N Harmony and more, there is no doubt that Dirty D has the ability to make a name for himself. http://www.scenemagazine.info/2013/10/31/dirty-d-dirty-but-so-clean/
