This fall the Don Normans are traveling outside of 270! We are excited to play two new venues to us. The first is the Courtyard Grub and Pub in Marion Ohio, the other show is at The Quarry Pub and Grill, in Fulton Ohio. Both have great menus and obviously good taste in blues.
July is hot, and so are our shows! We start the month playing for Swing Columbus on the 16th. This is one of their public dances, so if you want to learn how to swing dance this is the show for you. The Don Normans are known for our old school blues, but we can really swing as well. The fun starts at 7pm at 296 W 4th Ave, columbus, Oh 43201. Our next stop is at City BBQ on 2111 W Henderson Rd, Columbus, Oh 43220. This will be on the patio from 7 - 10. We are back to our blues roots featuring Blues Boy Mike on harmonica. Nothing like sweet sticky BBQ and old school blues on a hot July. We hope to see you all there!
Wow! June is just about over, and what a send off. Playing Comfest this year was a treat. The sun was out and the music was outstanding. Thank you to all the volunteers for making Comfest great, and thanks for letting us be part of the fun. Saturday evening was just as fun. We were at our favorite patio in Powell...Local Roots. What a great place for a cold beer and amazing pizza. Now on to July! We will be playing for the Columbus Swing Club and City BBQ. Looking forward to seeing everybody. Now go out and check out some local music and put on some spf.
What a fun time we had at the Creekside Blues Fest. Bob and the Columbus Blues Alliance went out of their way this year to make a great event. The covered main stage was a welcome escape form the hot sun. Thank you for having us, we had a blast. Next on our summer blitz is Comfest!
Who is ready to spend Sunday with the Blue Note Slingers? Well we have been practicing and fine tuning our set...Cookie even got a hair cut. It has also been confirmed that the one and only Winston Cockburn will be joining us.
We had a great show this past weekend at India Oak. Thanks for coming out everyone. Now we are rehearsing for The Creekside Blues and Jazz festival. We play the electric stage on Sunday June 19th from 12;30-1;45. We will be playing as the Blue Note Slingers. We have a exciting set list of old school blues...and a special guest...Winston Cockburn. A local legend of Mississippi hill blues. Did I also mention, we will be recording a live promo video. Come out and be somebody!
We are excited to kick off our summer of blues this Friday at the India Oak. They have been very good to us and I could not think of a better venue to prepare us for Gahanna and Comfest. The Don Normans have a busy schedule and hope to see you all this summer.
This week The Don Norman's found themselves at the Crazy Mule, located in north Columbus. We played an amazing 1 hour set. Big Mike and Bruce played some great horns on the Tyrone Davis tune. Regan and Toby kept the buss rolling and Winston Cogburn helped keep it together with some sweet solos. Next week we will be at Mudflats...always a good time.
We have been getting ready for our show this Saturday at the India-Oak. We have been working on some Tyrone Davis and R.L. Burnside, so expect to dance.
The Blues is different for everybody. Some like the Delta,Chicago,Swing or Texas. But it all inspires the emotion that we all relate too. Good times, bad times and everything between. Long live the blues!
