Happy throngs, take this joy, wherever you go.
This Friday the 13th, 'Hella Fun Tribute Night' at the Starry Plough pays tribute to The Pixies and R.E.M., featuring Pomegranate and your favorite R.E.M. Tribute Band Chronic Town (Misisipi Mike had to cancel at the last minute, sorry Jonathan Richman fans).
Slicing Up Eyeballs | Goofing on Elvis
For all you grown-up debasers, Pomegranate will be performing The Pixies' Doolittle album in its entirety, plus a bunch more of your favorite Pixies tunes. So you can gouge away, gouge away, and stay all day, if you want to.
Another prop to occupy your time, Chronic Town takes the stage at 9:30 pm, playing 80's & 90's R.E.M. hits and obscurities. Details for the show are listed below. Don't be a sad tomato, come early, stay late...
See you in Berkeley! Chronic Town
Should we talk about the weather? Should we talk about the government?
Hi. It's been a while since y'all have heard from us, and we really don't like to leave you hanging. We had a fantastic time playing DuNord last time. Thanks for coming out, showing your support and making it a great night! And drinking, always the drinking.
We've had a bunch of new people add on to our blog and mailing list since then, and it's been a while since we sent anything, so we just thought we'd let you know what's up.
First, we have another show coming up next month. Here's the Facebook event page for it. https://www.facebook.com/events/248132131955599/
We hope you'll say you're coming, invite your friends, or share it on your wall. It's the best way to help us spread the word about Chronic Town shows.
Save the date! It's Friday, July 13th at the Starry Plough in Berkeley. Local band Pomegranate with be playing The Pixies' Doolittle album in it's entirety, and Misisipi Mike (yes he spells it that way) will be covering Jonathan Richman tunes. If you've got friends in the East Bay, let 'em know we're coming!
Second, help us welcome our new bassist Jeff — er, I mean Mike — into the fold. We're pretty impressed with our new faux-Mills and think you will be too. Also... What the Buck?!? Why is our guitarist sounding so fantastic this time around? Come out and see...
That's about it. Didn't want y'all to think we'd gotten lost in Howard Finster's overgrown Paradise Garden! We'll be back in touch the week of the show to remind you. See ya in July!
After a nearly 5 year hiatus... we're back.
Our first rehearsal this past Sunday was a success... Miles Standish Proud. Congratulate us.
