My Heart Searching After Yours

You confound the depths of my soul, oh Lord… And your mysteries ever continue to elude me. The depths of Your heart I cannot comprehend, And its complexities cause me to ever search deep within me For some morsel of understanding Beyond that which I can see.

Yet, how can I conceive of the vast expanse of who You are? When will I even begin to comprehend The depths of Your understanding, Or even grasp the surface of your ever unwavering compassion?

The complexities within a single dew drop Are far beyond anything that man can hope to achieve. Yet, You hold him in the palm of your hand And show him your most fervent desires.

You speak and a thousand sunsets reflect Your every chosen word, And Your every desire becomes my deepest passion, While beyond each and every moment that you touch my being Comes a thousand lifetimes of my heart searching after yours.

Still… here I remain, ever looking upward, Until that day, Oh that glorious day When peace fills my heart And all becomes one with You. Selah.

Seek eternal things

Most of us have read the story of how Jesus healed the nobleman's son through merely speaking the words, but do you know “the rest of the story"? [So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.” The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies! ”Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” John 4:46-52] As the rest of the story goes, the nobleman traveled home to find that his son's life was restored at the moment that Christ had spoken it, and that the Lord through his “hesed”, His mercy, His long-suffering and compassion healed this man's son, but can you hear the frustration in Jesus' voice when he spoke those words? What He was really saying is, “Why don't they get this? Why must people always place such importance on earthly things, things that they can only see with their eyes, when soon they will die and leave this place? It is now for them to choose where they will go from here to spend eternity, either with Me, or the lake of fire.” The things of the earth will all perish in time, but things that are eternal, (of Heaven), will never perish, and this is what our Father in heaven desires that we seek above all else; not the temporary, but the eternal things of heaven, that we might spend eternity with Him, instead of the alternative, which is too horrible to describe. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7. Stop seeking earthly comforts, seek a relationship with Jesus Christ above all else. “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29. He wants us to place our faith and our trust fully in him to provide all that HE desires for us to have, and allow Him to provide those things each and every day. (Psalm 37:4) Trust Him. Seek Him first in everything. Walk with Him daily, now and forever. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,” Ephesians 1:3

Paths of Righteousness

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:1-4;

If you have never been on a mission trip to a 3rd world country, or spent time in a part of this land where people have nothing, your sense of reality is skewed, out of alignment.

This land that we call America is not reality as far as the rest of the world is concerned. We live in a land of wonder, a land of such opportunity here, that most of us never really have an understanding of what real hardship is, of what reality really is.

We find ourselves praying things like, Lord please remove all hardship from my path etc., when His word says “He leads me in the paths of righteousness for HIS name sake”. David had a clear understanding of reality because God had led him down paths of hardship to prepare him for his role as king of Israel.

As we look at ourselves and our journey today, are we seeking God’s destiny, His path for us, or are we looking for comfort for ourselves in this short temporary lifespan? Are we thinking of all the people in this country and the world who don’t know Him, and may be headed for an eternity of tragedy?

Lord, lead me down the path that you have chosen for me today. I thank you for all your provision, and that I am not alone. I have you guiding my path, and I know that you will give me the strength that I need to endure, and remain victorious in ALL things. Amen.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

Always the Same

The Bible is an accurate record of acts of, and words spoken by Yahweh God, Jesus Christ, the Logos, the Word; and writings of holy men and women of God who were inspired by the Holy Spirit to speak His words and to do His will on the earth.

That same Holy Spirit is alive and living inside of men and women all over the world today who have given their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ, and who are still inspired by that same Holy Spirit of Christ to do His will on the earth.

He has never changed, and he never will change. He is the same. He will always be the same.

Many of the passages that we quote today were words spoken to us by the Holy Spirit through those men and women of old, and the Holy Spirit is still speaking through many today, and the way that we tell if it is truly the Holy Spirit, is if it lines up with what is already written in the bible, His Holy Word.

If it lines up, it is truth. If it doesn’t line up, it is false.

There are many false prophets today teaching and saying untruths. We must not listen to them. This has always been true. This has never changed.

God has never changed His agenda, and He never will. He is the one thing in the universe that we can trust as being constant. He never changes, He never will.

There is nothing new under the sun. There are the same deceptions and the same truths, yet one thing always remains the same… that He is always there. He is always faithful. He will never change.

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12.

Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving 2012

I guess one of the things that I am thankful for this year is that I will be moving out of this old house soon. Most of the kitchen appliances are old, and need to be replaced, especially my Sears Kenmore oven.

Last year at thanksgiving, when I was baking the turkey, it decided that it needed to go into self-cleaning mode while the turkey was still inside. So, it buzzed, and then locked the door, so that I couldn't get the turkey out.

I reset the circuit breaker, so it came out of self-cleaning mode, but the door stayed locked for 1 hour, and I couldn't turn the heat back on.

Miraculously, when it unlocked for me, and I thought that turkey would be toast, (toast might have been better at that point), it was done just right, (probably better than I could have done myself).

This year, with my turkey inside, it started to buzz, then the display said F2, and I couldn't get the heat to come back on. What does F2 mean anyway? The only things I could think of were an F2 tornado, or F2 being the command in Word to insert an equation. :)

We waited, and kept hitting cancel to try to reset it, then about a half hour later, the heat came back on, and we were able to continue baking, but it was a little well done on the outside, yet perfect on the inside.

I am most thankful that no matter what might go wrong in my life, God is still in control, and that he is guiding my path, and not my Sears Kenmore oven. :)

God bless you all this holiday. Michael

PS - it is also nice to know that although, just like that turkey, I might be a little crispy on the outside, thanks to God, I am just right on the inside. :)

The tree

Have you ever gone for a walk through the woods and looked up into the trees and noticed all of the dead branches hanging down? Maybe you’ve seen it in your own neighborhood, in a yard where the trees have been neglected. A gardener will tell you that if you have a tree with a lot of dead branches, and you don’t trim them back, it will eventually get sick, and possibly die. But, if you were to go into the yard of a caring gardener, you would notice that all of the trees are full and green, and they all look healthy and prosperous compared to the ones in the forest with all the dead branches hanging down. If you were to trim all the dead branches back from a tree or bush, you could then over time watch all the new leaves and branches sprouting up all over; and then eventually the tree or bush will be fuller than ever before, full of life, vitality, and prospering. I was asking myself this morning while looking at some trees, “How could trees have even survived without someone to prune, trim, and care for them? Would they die?” The answer is that they can survive, they can exist, but they can’t flourish the way they were designed to without the care of someone watching over them and caring for them. That is the way they were created; designed to be in a symbiotic relationship with mankind caring for them. So it is with us. We were created to be in a symbiotic relationship with God. The Bible says that the Lord prunes whom He loves. Without God in our lives watching over us, teaching us, guiding us; we can exist, maybe even flourish for a while, but eventually all the dead stuff hanging from us will cause us to become sickly and maybe even die. Allowing God to care for us and remove all the junk in our lives will allow us to stay healthy and flourish like never before. God wants us all to be trees in His garden that He can watch over, trim, prune, and water, that we might flourish in his garden just the way man once did at the dawn of creation. Without him in our lives, we can exist; maybe even flourish for a while, but what a pale existence that is, compared to being cared for in His Garden.
