To each of you taking the time to read this, who has taken the time to listen to the music. The share the music. To buy the music or introduce it to a friend I truly want to thank you!
It is funny how sometimes it takes something drastic to wake us up or shake us up to step back and look at life. For me it was a devastating knee injury. It made me realize that as I finally "had time" again to sit down and play guitar how I have missed music the last three years. For those who have been around since the start- the talent show days at all the county fairs-recording my first 4 song demo with some good buddies from college. To performing at the Iowa and Minnesota State fairs and having a promoter as me to record "Chevy and a Ford". Thank you!!! For each crowd that has enjoyed the laughs I Thank You! For the tips and guitar help- the listening ears the first time I played a song in those listening rooms in college- For letting a green songwriter perform at your wedding-Thank You!
There are so many more people over the years that have been a huge influence on my music. To each and everyone of you- I cannot thank you enough for the encouragement.
"Chevy and a Ford" was recorded 14 years ago. I had an amazing chance to get nationally recognized musicians it was recorded by request of a band member to pitch to Kenny Chesney. It was pitched to him and he declined it but with some great encouragement for me. The bottom line is it is all about making good music. Music that can bring emotions, make you laugh and make you cry, dance and want to hold a loved one close.
That is my commitment to you. Regardless of where the music goes I am committed to continue to make the music the best that I can. To grow in the skill of songwriting and as a musician. No amount of promotion and marketing can improve the quality of a product. I am committed to bringing you the best product I can.
I will continue to promote the music because that is what we as musicians need to do to keep growing a fan base and getting people to listen. In hopes of growing the fan base one person at a time.
Music and life is about relationships. I commit in 2016 to bringing each of you the best music, to being easy to contact and quick to respond. Thanks for giving me the greatest honor. That is the gift of your time, the pleasure of your listening ear and a chance to share my music with YOU!
It is amazing how some of the hardest times in life show us what we are truly made of. It can bring out the best or the worst in us as people.
For me personally, I am recovering from knee surgery. Around the Holidays this is not what I had in mind.
However, it has proved to be a blessing in disguise. It has cause me to slow down. Sit back and think about things. Think about life and the trajectory that is ahead.
It gave me time to pick up my guitar and start writing again...it has been quite a while. The easy excuse was that I was too busy. Now I am not and I see how much I have been missing it.
Here is my challenge to you and to myself entering 2016. Take the time to sit down and truly reflect on what you want to make of 2016. What passions or directions you want to pursue. Or what you want to try new.
There is no time like the present.
Now follow some steps and set some goals for 2016
1. Set a goal 2. Make a plan 3. Take action!!!
