Hey everyone, I'm expecting some Dropbox love today! Most likely the last review before sending to mixing and mastering. I'm already working on material for another album of which two songs will be debuted at our New Year's Eve show. It's going to be a special night to say the least (more info to come on that one)! Needless to say, the first album has taken way too long to release. I just wanted to make sure that I am happy with my songs and that you all will enjoy them as well! It's hard to really put a finger on the first album...the best thing I could say is there is a song for everyone on there. There's a song about love, a song about loss, feel good songs, turn your radio up songs and well, then there's Mackenzie's song (which stands alone in my honest opinion). I pay homage to traditional country while moving up and down the genre scale. I can't wait to hear what you all think about the album! Stay tuned....
Once the studio work is done, this baby will be rollin' ! Hang in there folks....this is going to be great!
Hey everyone! Just checking in with you all. I've recently had to step back and take a break on the album...I'm just trying to make sure the recording I put out there is the sound I am aiming for. In the meantime, I'm writing new material for a second album (well, at least a few more singles). One of the songs will be performed live, for the first time (and possibly only time), at our New Year's Eve show in Benson. It's probably the most personal song that I've written and I've had a tremendous response from some pretty important folks! We will pick back up with the first album, tentatively, early August. It's only a matter of instrumentation on about 5 of the 10 songs. So, stay tuned...we are pretty much booked for the remainder of 2016...so come see us soon! - Jeff
Hey everyone, Just checking in - if you haven't had a chance to listen to the promo track here on the web page, give it a listen and let me know what you think! We are just finalizing the instrumentation, putting some harmonies in and then we'll be just about done. It's really exciting to see the album nearing the end! It's been a very long journey...but I think that the time and effort put into the album will be well worth it once you give it a listen! Please try and come out to some of our shows to see some of these songs performed live...you won't regret it! As always, thank you for all of your support! ~ Jeff
Hey everyone! I hope this message finds you all healthy, happy and loving live music! Just wanted to give you an update on the album - lead guitar tracks are finished and now we are getting the fiddle and pedal steel in the studio to round out the sound. Next we will add some harmonies in there and keyboard - then it's onto mixing and mastering. The process is much slower than I had originally hoped, but good things come to those who wait I guess. I really just want the album done by the end of 2015 (hopefully December). We shall see...but in the meantime, please come out to a show and hear some of the album for yourself. It really has a little something for every music lover! Take care and see you at the show! ~ Jeff
After a short stint with Aerosmith, our studio guy is back and therefore, we are back to work on the album. The project is taking longer than I had expected, but as long as it's out by December I'll be happy. If you were at one of our recent shows, we debuted another single off of the album titled "Promise of Love". Crowd reaction has been outstanding with people coming up to tell me that they really love the song. It makes me feel good, as the writer, to hear that from people! There are stories behind every song on the album - so stay tuned as we will have an album launch party when it's ready and you can hear the unique insight of each song. Thank you all for your support and please, pass the word around about Southbound 85!
COMING SOON: Jeff Leonard's debut album "One for the Road" !!!
Following an amazing show at The Junction in Benson, we're headed back into the studio to continue to work on my album 'One for the Road'. Things are coming along and the excitement is growing with each passing session. I hope to release the album in May, but funding may delay the release date (see my Kickstarter campaign). None the less, people are starting to realize that we're still alive and kicking, playing great music and the bookings are starting to come in. We are currently booking Aug. - Dec., so call today if you want to book the band (704.451.5343). Thanks again everyone for your support and we hope to see you at one of our shows soon! ~ Jeff
Hi everyone, Here we are in 2015 and we have an album in the making. After putting my originals on the back burner for so long, I finally decided that the world needs to hear what I have to say...in my own words...with my own voice. I can't even begin to explain how excited I am to be making an album! I've seen other artists put out albums and I am sure they feel the same way when going through this process...but for some reason I feel it is different for me. Many of these songs are about my life, while others were literally written just for fun and for this album. The one thing I can promise you is that I will give you all that I have....I hope you purchase "One for the Road" when it comes out in April (tentatively). Thank you for all of your support! ~ Jeff
Hi everyone, You know how crazy everything gets once Halloween passes, right? That time of year always seems to fly by...especially when you are enjoying time with family and friends! But before 2014 passes, I wanted to make sure I shared love and support to others in need. So on Dec. 7th, we are hosting an event called the "Don't Give Up" Concert featuring Southbound 85 and NC's own Amanda Daughtry. It's going to be at City Limits Saloon in Raleigh and Amanda takes the stage around 7:30pm (doors open at 6pm). It's only $10 and all of the proceeds go to the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research! So please, come on out and support this great cause! I would love to see that Big Check at the end of the show read $5000 or more! Work has began on the Southbound 85 album! If you have come to some of our shows, you have heard a couple of the songs. The one that seems to be getting the most response thus far is "We're really kinda different" - the band loved the bridge I just put in...they said it made it a totally different song. I mean, who doesn't love "sittin' beneath the stars on a country road, she's drinkin' that red wine, listening to George Jones"? Let's see....stars, country road, good lookin' lady, wine and George Jones.....sounds like a great country song to me! Fact is, I like that song a lot....but I don't think it will be the best track on the album. Want to know which song I think will be the best? You'll have to buy the album when it comes out! But let me assure you, there is something for everyone on the album! Stay tuned! Otherwise, everyone please have a great holiday season - I hope your days are filled with memories and joy! See you Dec. 7th at City Limits Saloon!
Hey everyone! I hope you had a great July 4th and are planning to come out and see us sometime in the near future! This week, we are working really hard on some original tracks. The goal is to roll out some tracks at our next few shows and then have a completed disc for purchase by the "Don't Give Up" Concert in December! So, wish us luck and stay in touch! As always, thank you for being a fan!
