This has been a whirlwind summer of great opportunities to hang with new fans and its only early July! HSF traveled back to Richmond VA to the lovely Capital Alehouse stage for another show in conjunction with the River City Blues Society with our healthiest turnout yet! Fans new and old were up dancing early and didn't sit down until late. From there the band headed south to Hampton Roads Va to play at the Hampton Block Party opening for Seth Steinbeck and Roosterfoot. We had a great time meeting many new fans after our set. We kept the fire going after Roosterfoot threw down when we geared up to play the afterparty. Things got lively as a local wedding party showed up to join in the festivities. Thanks to the Capital Alehouse and Pete and the crew at the Hampton Taphouse for a GREAT weekend. See y'all again soon!
Hard Swimmin' Fish swam on down to the Colonial Beach, VA Blues Festival Sunday and we met a new school of friends and fans. Thanks to all who came out including the undercover officer who was scoping out our merch man Dan. What is in those little baggies you're offering to the kiddos Dan? Temporary Tattoos. Thats what!
HSF had a great show at the Carroll Arts Theater in Westminster, MD on January 18, 2014. Thanks to all who came out to support us, particularly our new fans. We were thrilled with the turnout and humbled by the multiple standing ovations! We appreciate y'all very much!
Hello all, Its hard to keep up with all that is going on with the band so sorry the posts are so erratic. Our brand new album "One Step Forward" is now available and we're very pleased with the results. We employed sonic wizard Mitch Easter (producer of first two REM albums) to work his magic on this one at the amazing Fidelitorium Studios. Check out "Hear Your Mama" and "Blind Love" for a sample. See you at a show in 2014. Swim on!
HSF had a great week of traveling and playing this week. Starting with an event for the one year anniversary for RagingWire Data Storage we went on to play at the Canal Bar in Fredrick, Avalon Resort's Music Fest in Paw Paw WV, Roller Derby in Fredrick and a private pool party for some of our excellent fans on Saturday, and closed out the weekend at the Bluemont concert series in Ashland, VA on Sunday. Thanks to all who came out. We had a blast!
The band had a great experience recording our new album at the Fidelitorium Studio in Kernersville, NC with Mitch Easter. We planned to record 11 tracks in the four days we were there. When we found ourselves ahead of schedule (hooray for preparation!) we recorded a few extra tracks and got down to mixing. Thanks for a great experience Mitch, Ted and Amanda at Fidelitorium!
Well folks, We had our last gig before heading to the studio in Greensboro, NC to work with producer Mitch Easter on our new album. We played the album in its entirety for our second set and the material went over well. A good sign. The new album will be all original material with two exceptions. And we're looking forward to using some different recording options afforded by going to the Fidelitorium. We'll keep you up to speed with posts and video along the way.
HSF had a great triple header this last weekend in May starting with an opening slot for the 18th annual Western MD. Blues Fest. It was a steamy day but the crowd hung with us and got down with some serious dancing. Next up was Fredrick Festival of the arts along Carrol Creek. A highpoint was finding a new direction for my solo in "Who's Been Talkin". To round out the evening we were back on Patrick St. for first Saturday with our unbelievable friends and fans. Thanks for a great weekend y'all! Less than two weeks until we're in the studio!
First Saturday Gallery Walk in Fredrick, MD. was filled with craziness this past weekend. The band hovered over bassist Randy Ball's iPhone tracking the "severe thunderstorm warning" at the start of the evening. When we figured the coast was clear we set up and began to play. Our amazing group of fans swelled to the point that the Fredrick PD considered shutting us down for crowd control purposes but luckily we were able to keep everyone contained and entertained. We were joined by none other than impressionist extraordinaire Billy Finch as Austin Powers, Frank Sinatra- who graced us with a few numbers during a set break, and Rodney Dangerfield who entertained with jokes and dancing during the set. We had a surpirsed guest when Fredricks own "The Russian" (we only know him by this name) graced the stage for some VERY IMPRESSIVE dance moves. But SHHHH, he likes to keep them under wraps. Thanks to all who came out to support the band and our Fredrick hosts! A show to remember.
HSF had a blast playing for the good folks at Avalon Resort in Paw Paw WV Aug. 10. Great festival line up. Hope to catch some more acts next year! Thanks for having us.
