We've been getting a lot of questions about why we changed our name from Mondo Domo to CulverHouse recently... We understand it probably is a bit confusing.... But even though we've had the name Mondo Domo since 1989, we felt it was hurting our ability to go forward (sometimes club owners were thinking we were a Tejano band, not that there's anything wrong with that, we just aren't!). When Jeremy left the line up, it just seemed an appropriate time to make the name change as well. Hope that helps clear up any confusion or concerns!
Kevin Standley is the new drummer for Mondo Domo!
Formerly with Tailgate Junkies, Kevin, a Lufkin native, is looking forward to this new chapter in his life. He’ll fit right in with the rest of the guys with his upbeat and unique personality. His wealth of playing experience will be a big asset to the band. Welcome aboard, Kevin!
Mondo Domo’s first show with Kevin will be September 13th, 2012 at Jim Ann’s Club in Lufkin.
Jeremy Chance, the founding drummer with us, will be stepping down from his duties. I wanted to repost his open letter to our fans, family, and friends (and our thoughts) below:
Dear Mondo Domo fans and friends,
It is with great difficulty that I have come to the decision that I am resigning from my duties as drummer for Mondo Domo. I have had some of the most fun playing, performing but mostly writing with the other members of Mondo Domo. I have other responsibilities and opportunities outside of music that I need to pursue and give more attention to at this point in my life.
I wish the band the best of luck in the future, which will be a bright one! I am still Mondo Domo’s #1 fan, and hope that when my current cloud of dust settles, that I can continue working with and around the band in a supporting, behind the scenes role. I appreciate you, as fans for supporting us, and I appreciate the band for their understanding concerning this situation. After over 20 years playing with each other, you become family and that’s how I feel about my brothers (and cousin Ted) in Mondo Domo (just kidding Ted ).
Thank you very much!
For our part, we would like to add that Jeremy has been a part of Mondo Domo since the beginning (literally one of our founding family members) and will continue to be involved in some capacity or another. Although we look to the future as we pursue our dreams, we remember our past and have countless memories of great times. We will have an announcement tomorrow regarding the lineup change, but for now, we just want to say, Jeremy: Thank you for all that you have done for us over the years, we appreciate it very much, and wish you continued success in everything that you do. Rock on, brother!
We're looking forward to going back to the Texas Sports Bar & Grill in Nacogdoches. It's split-level, open seating is a good environment to relax in and the place has good acoustics so the sound is great there. Also, it's a non-smoking club, so many people may prefer that venue over others. Ya'll come on out this Saturday night, August 4th, to the Texas Sports Bar & Grill in Nacogdoches! Show starts at 9 PM, $5 cover. From Lufkin, drive towards Nac on Hwy 59N. Right before you get to the loop, Texas Sports Bar & Grill is on your left (it's in the same building as the Quality Inn, next to Arby's).
We were thankful to be included to play at the benefit for Mikki on Saturday (10/22/11) at the Steel Horse Saloon. It was a great show for an even greater cause. A very warm thank you to everyone that participated!
As we prepare to go back into the studio, I started thinking about how much fun it was last time... Should we enjoy ourselves this much? lol Writing and recording are certainly a blast, but in all honesty, I think it's time for us to get back onstage really soon. Nothing compares to getting feedback from listeners LIVE (as they experience your art, you get to instantly experience what they feel about it). I guess what I'm trying to say that while a lot of the things you encounter in the music biz are fun, playing in front of your fans is really what it's all about!
