As Mary Chapin Carpenter says "I feel lucky." There is an old Gospel song that says "I've Been Redeemed." I see hard times around me but as Elton John says "I'm Still Standing." Life and love have both been good to me. I have no craving for alcohol or mind altering drugs today. I do not like to spend money that I don't have buying things I don't want while trying to impress people I don't like. My teenage son is doing well in school and is developing mentally, physically, and spiritually. I have a "Good Hearted Woman" who loves me in spite of my unique ways she don't understand. My mother swears that I am a saint and my brother has my back. I know that Daddy is watching over me from Heaven and is probably listening to some of my songs right now. All of my bills have been paid up to date, at least for today anyway. I have 2,109 Reverbnation fans right now that I am grateful for. High Lonesome Strings Bluegrass Association is very appreciative of my services as President and Board Member. None of this would have happened had it been for our Heavenly Father God. Thanks, Chief.
There are many great opportunities to for musicians to showcase their talents in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina. Brewballs Pub in Burlington hosts an open mic every Sunday at 9:30PM. The Blind Tiger hosts an open mic every Monday at 10:00PM and The Flatiron hosts an open mic every Tuesday at 11:00PM. Also, High Lonesome Strings Bluegrass Association holds at least one jam session per week. The 2nd and 4th Tuesdays HLS jams are held at Stonefield Cellars Winery in Stokesdale from 7:00PM until 10:00PM. The 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday HLS jam sessions are held at the Greensboro Cultural Arts Center from 7:00PM until 10:00PM. Local musicians are always performing gigs at The Green Bean, The Blind Tiger, and other popular venues. Downtown Greensboro has become a mecca for artists, musicians, and local retailers. I invite everyone to experience these music venues and support community music.
I want to thank all of my fans on reverbnation. I have learned alot from you all and am very impressed with the songs I have listened to lately. It is nice to be able to have access to so many artists and songs. Reverbnation is definately enhancing my music career. I recorded a CD consisting of 8 original songs on January 3, 2012 at Earthtones Studio in Greensboro. I did vocals and acoustic guitar. During the recording session, I played my 1965 Gibson J-45 acoustic. I recently put some light gage strings on it and it sounds better than ever. Benji Johnson did a great job recording and mixing my tracks. I am impressed if I say so myself. My friend Pammy Davis with High Lonesome Strings was kind enough to design the artwork on the cover. I have distributed copies at my open mic sets. I plan to burn some more copies in the next few days. Again, thanks to all of my fans. God Bless all of you. Sincerely, Shane
