Busy times as usual in the Firestate camp, we are currently in the pre-production stage of our next 4 track EP and everything is moving along nicely. We have chosen the tracks we want to record and the backing tracks are complete ready for us to get in the studio very soon! We have also been working on a cover/re-write of a song from the mid 90's and we have drafted in the vocal talents of the very awesome 'MCX' Once the song is complete we will be unveiling it at our next gig which is at the Canal Bar, Newbury, Friday 2nd of March and we will also be recording the track in the studio and shooting a video to go with it. Until then the song remains a secret so you'll have to keep guessing for now! Also as some of you are probably aware the Canal Bar show will be our last gig with our current front man Lewis. Lewis is leaving to concentrate on his main band The After Affect and we wish him and the rest of guys all the best, they are an awesome band and deserve big things to happen. So what does this mean for Firestate? Don't worry we already have an awesome new frontman lined up and we are working with him as we speak, as things progress we will announce him to the world once the time is right and we are ready to play again. We only expect to be away from gigs for a couple of months while we bring our new front man up to speed and finish off the 2nd EP then we intend to hit the summer hard and play as much as possible. If anyone has requests of places for us to play when we come back let us know and we will try and organise a show near you. Finally here's some other cool things that have been going on recently...... 1 - We have picked up a string endorsement with Dovetail Strings (be sure to check them out and buy some strings if you play guitar or bass www.dovetailretail.co.uk) 2 - The first Firestate EP will soon be stocked in several high street outlets (watch this space for further announcements where this will be) 3 - Our Sponsor Wardstone are running a competiton at the moment where you can win lots of free goodies including some Firestate merch. All you have to do is pre-order a James White Racing T from www.wardstonebigcartel.co.uk to be entered into the draw! 4 - We have been helping out the very talented director 'Drew Casson' by writing score and providing songs for an upcoming movie project (that will be featuring the acting debut of our very own Carlos) 5 - We are currently planning another collabertaion track, this time with the awesome 'By Far & Beyond' (more details to come on this one Busy, busy times and more announcements to come soon For now though it's Firestate over and out
For those of you who haven't seen this yet here is the full write up from Wardtsone after they approached us about endorsement....... Having worked with the local music scene since 2002 designing all forms of merchandise from the standard Tees and CD’s covers I felt that when I started my own Clothing Range that I should continue this association and spent some time in sweaty audiences working out which band would suit the brand best. Much of today’s local talent thrives on the ‘screamo fast guitar two cords’ type of music and I felt not only did this not suit my clothing range style but also that it was on a downward slope and that it was time for a change.I recall a fellow designer saying to me ‘I’m not into all that stuff ‘cause I cant hear what they are saying or sing along in the car, you know what I mean?’ I knew exactly what he meant and that then became my goal to hunt down a band that brought back the good times to audiences, something you can sing along to, something that is so catchy it sticks in your head for days, something that makes you smile and something that isn’t moaning about how hard their life is, how hard their upbringing was and how shit the world is. 13th November 2011 – Railway Inn Wantage, that’s the night I approached the band after what was a kick arse set, we did the deal there and then in the cold beer garden over several smokes. They remind me of old Foo Fighters with a touch of Biffy Clyro and some classic British metal thrown in, without any of the cheese, this may not sound like the best way to describe any band, but I can assure you it’s the only way I can, and after you have seen them you will understand where I am coming from.Wardstone are about clean understated style and quality and Firestate fit perfectly within this remit, we are pleased to be associated with them and hope that this association makes us both lots and lots of money, no but seriously, I mean it . . .. lots and lots of money ha ha --------------------------------------- Thank you very much Steve @ Wardstone, Firestate are proud to partner with you and promote the awesome designs that you produce
Ok so none of us are changing our name to Shirley but we hope you love us still the same! Tonight is our last show for a while as we are going back to the studio to record the second EP which we hope to release in the next couple of months and we are also about to make a few changes within the band (All will be revealed very soon) Tonight's gig is at The Swan in Wantage with our good friends Below The Fall, this one is going to to be blinding so not to be missed. everything kicks off about 9:30 so come on down and get involved.
