Here we are in the studio working on the ride out to our new song, "Dance Under The Darkness." A peak into an improv jam in progress. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RLI-J_emmA
We've been in the studio, working on each new song "1@AX" (One At A Time), hence the title of our new EP. Check out the rough demos of the new material while you still can! We're offering free downloads here on reverbnation, as well as soundcloud, facebook, and our website!
We just had an amazing time opening for Country Music legend, Willie Nelson May 13th @ UPAC in kingston. The show was sold out, all 1500 seats and we played for a very appreciative audience. Willie was amazing of course and we consider ourselves lucky to have had such a cool experience!
Keep checking our website www.the-compact.com or our reverbnation site at www.reverbnation.com/thecompact every week to hear a new demo by The Compact! We will post a new rough version of a song one at a time and they will be available for an exclusive download for our friends and fans for a limited time only. Some of these will be silly material we wrote for a feature film. You will know which ones they are because they will be completely out of character. So check back often and enjoy!
It's been a little over a year since The Compact released "Fortune Cookie Philosophy" and we've had quite the year since. Many of you were there for the All-star performance at Keegan Ales that featured Gary Burke on drums (Shania Twain, Joe Jackson, Bob Dylan), Steve Marnell on drums, Larry Packer on violin (The Band, Lou Reed), Ross Rice on keyboard (Peter Frampton, Isaac Hayes), Pete Levin on keyboard (Gil Evans, Miles Davis), and Paul Rossman on percussion. Shortly after the big CD release party we were accepted to play at Mountain Jam Festival VII and played to a sold out UPAC theatre opening for country legend Loretta Lynn. With a little help from Powderfinger Productions, the album has been spinning on 100 college, jamband, and AAA radio stations nationwide! It wasn't a bad run for our first official CD release and there is much more to come.
Most of you would agree that our live show and grooves don't even compare to our studio records. This time around we plan to tap into that improvised spontaneity and create something based on that kind of energy. We are also including some of your favorite covers, including "Karma" by Alicia Keys and "Buildings And Bridges" by Ani DiFranco.
We will keep you updated as we return to the studio and start working. New live videos coming soon as well! Stay tuned!
