I noticed it has been almost two years since my last Blog Entry so I thought I would send one out and touch base with y'all.
It's been an amazing year thus far and we have three months till we bring in 2016. So I thought I'd use this entry to talk about the events that happened between the end of 2014 and spring of 2015. I play 27 shows in the first four months of the year so I will just talk about a few of the special ones.
We spent the end of 2014 wrapping up the new album. To change things up on this album, I had Joe Viers at Sonic Lounge mix and master the project. This was my first time working with Joe and Sonic Lounge, I was very pleased and blown away with Joe's skills. The dude is a seasoned eng., with decades of experience and it shows..... the guy is a pro! On top of all of this, he is just a good dude. It was a pleasure working with Joe and we will be meeting soon to discuss working together on the next project.
We started 2015 off with the release of the new album, "Diggin' On You" at BMI in Versailles, OH on January, 17th and that at Taffy's in Eaton, OH on January, 30th. We were all very proud of the album and couldn't wait to release it to the public. Both shows were great and we had a great turn out. Between CD sales, online sales and live shows, I was able to recoup production cost of the new album within three months.... which is a huge relief for an independent artist. So.... "Thank You"!!
I kicked off February with a few shows in Dallas and Austin, TX. I played Poor David's in Dallas on Feb, 2nd. The crowd was a little light being a Monday but they were great and it was a fun show. The next day I hit an open mic at the Speakeasy in Austin. It was amazing.... the line-up that evening was stellar! Not a weak act the entire evening..... I was starting to think that the level of talent at this open mic was par for course in Austin. The host assured me that, even for Austin, this was a rare line-up of stacked talent for a Tuesday night. Truly an amazing night of talent.... I was signed up to hit another open mic that evening and skipped it to stay at the Speakeasy. A fun trip.... Thanks, Texas!
On Feb, 21st I played a songwriters showcase with two young songwriters from Nashville, Corey Cox and Greg Buroughs put on by Nashville Yankee's Promotions. Corey and Greg were great dudes and we had a great show.
March was pretty quiet with 6 local and regional clubs gigs but April heated things back up.
On April 11th, Brett and I played the WNKU-105.9 benefit at Gilly's in Dayton with Blue Moon Soup and Higgin's Madewell. A fun show and we were honored to be on the bill and help out a great station.
April, 18th was such a huge treat for me. I got to open up for one of my songwriting heroes, Chris Knight at Oddbody's in Dayton. An awesome night, a great turnout, Chris is a good dude and he put on an excellent show as always.
On April, 25th I did another showcase with Nashville Yankee's promotions opening for Dan Demay and Wil Nance. Both are hit songwriters from Nashville that have had numerous hits on the Country charts. So it was great to be able to sit down and talk shop with these cats. A fun night and I was able to hook my parents up with front row seats... so they got a kick out of that and had a great time. :)
To Be Continued.
