Hey everyone!
For those that have been following me for a while, thank you! It's been three years - too long - since I've done a solo album. And that album doesn't count (in my opinion) because it was an acoustic album.
I'm proud to say that some wonderful musical things are happening, and as a result, I'm making a new solo album titled "WIDE AWAKE," which will release fall of 2011.
I titled this blog "redefined" because it's not the Matthew Eldridge you've known. This album is a lot heavier, a lot darker, and a lot more experimental than anything you've heard from me before. Honestly, it reminds me of the songs I wrote as a teenager--which is funny because that "style" is popular again.
As far as my Christian roots go - yes, I am a Christian... but even Christians go through heavy things. The songs on this album were actually created in conjunction with a short film I wrote also titled "Wide Awake." I don't want to give away too much just yet. But, it's a dark film with a hopeful ending. It brought a lot of healing for me to write it.
I hope you enjoy the new sounds. You'll hear influences like 30 Seconds to Mars, U2, Lifehouse, Counting Crows, Breaking Benjamin, and others.
Stay tuned!
