Summer Solstice Edition

Happy Summer Everybody! After spending some time playing shows in the Hollywood and the Valley. We decided that we want to spend the summer locally in Camarillo...you know...where are fans are! And since most of our fine friends are home from their collegiate adventures we wanted to inform all of you that there is a number of chances to see The Definitives perfrom before autumn winds arrive. You can see us at the Fourth of July Block Party near Tylers house (see Band Profile on your left, or REVERBNATION for details), We will most likely be playing July 9th at Rock City Studios, and be playing the ACHS 2010 Class Reunion. We also would like to announce that we will be releasing "The Seasonal Ones" as a single on iTunes some time in the coming weeks! Just some summer stuff to look forward to. Hope you all have a lovely solstice!

One Year Later...

This group we know today as The Definitives has been in existence since the early ides of 2006, but it has taken four difficult years four Eric and Jacob the two original members to keep the vision alive. With the arrival of a supporting cast of Alex Lipsett, Tyler Nicols, and Stephen Coler by March 2010, they were anticipating their largest step in their musical careers: The 2010 Adolfo Camarillo High School Talent Show. I remeber the walking on stage in total darkness, the gym was packed to standing room only, a bright spot light blinded us and it was time. The show wasn't that epic but I'd like to think so, but it was a packed house with 20 performers on the bill and we placed second (the winner was this dance group of 40 kids assuming each brings an average of two parents and one friend each. You do the math). We took some time off to for Eric to work on his songs and Jacob to develop his lyrical skills because we'd be damned if we would continue to play Weezer covers in a garage with crummy equipment. We were eexcellent in coming up with instramentals but not so much words to put them to, eventually we came up with a number of songs that summer most notably what would become "Nights Come Heavy." That fall Stephen started his collegiate career at Cal State Northridge's Music department to major in Music Idustry Studies, Alex Lipsett began his studies at UC Irvine, Eric and Tyler stayed in town going to Moorpark, and Jacob atempted to begin his Junior year unfortunately still stuck in high school. This may have been biggest test if the band was to continue. To the enjoyment of Stephen, Eric, Tyler, and Jacob had not only keeping the ship anchored, but have been developing new songs throuhgout the fall. We managed to squeak ourselves onto a bill at our local venue at Rock City Studios. We played on a cold December 4th with our colleagues in Bad Judgement and I thought we did pretty well considering none of the songs had been played before. During that winter it became evident the songs needed to be recorded as efficently as possible, which led to the Garage Sessions. Based on our performance at Rock City a promoter from Canoga Parks Guitar Merchant invited us to play in early February, and so we did just that. After that performance which is now on youtube, we had recieved an offer to perform with the Crimson Curtains, based on Stephen's new connections in the Music Department. It was about this time that Stephen stumbled upon this site known as Reverbnation. With that we recieved an email from M productions inviting us to the Whisky a Go Go. It was nearly a dream come true, and that led us to our busiest live schedule in April one year after the Talent Show. We played 3 shows in two weeks, The Whisky, The Guitar Merchant, and the Cobalt with the Crimson Curtains. We soon took another short break to finish up school for the year, and since then we have once again played the Whisky a Go Go and now focusing on recording and releasing a single within the next month and a fan appreciation concert for our local supporters. A lot can happen in a year...
