*continued from TOUR STORIES part 1*
Immediately after playing Vancouver, we decided not to hang around vancouver too much longer, and went to gas up. heres where things got tricky for a bit... pulling up to the gas station we were approached by a few drunk girls who seemed very impressed with our van and the fact we were a band. (we thought we hit a goldmine at first lol "no way!?") This is also the same time when Kris realised his only guitar was left behind at the venue... so here i am with my arm around a sweet girl with quite the buzz on, talking about our tour and enjoying the attention that GOOD bands never seem to actually get. while Kris, frantic about losing his guitar and annoyed with my distracted state, stormed around in a rage trying to get me to care more about his dilemma and not soo much about the female company. tricky situation lol. so as this is all going on I noticed a couple Police officers approaching the van and it wasnt a great feeling. They started talking with Kurt (our kick ass bassist and night driver of the van) and eventually asked him how much he had to drink. "im good" he says. I thought our tour was OVER right then and there (suddenly it was really hard to care about drunk girls anymore, the danger of kurt being intoxicated became my main focus, considering we'd definately be searched after. goodies anyone?). so the cops ask kurt to step out of the vehicle as they proceeded to test his alcohol level. guess what? apparently Kurt only had a couple beers over the course of the night. pfffhhhhhh!! So the cops left us alone. boy band dudes showed up to rescue the drunk girls from the bearded monsters (i guess they had dibbs, oh well... ) and Kris finally calmed down about losing his guitar (nothing we could have done then anyway).
Bewildered, we left for the ferry boat and caught a tiny bit a sleep waiting before the first Ferry at 5am was ready to go.
The ferry ride kicked soo much ass. definately one of the highlights of the trip. sounds kind of gay, but if youve been on the ferry, you know what im talking about. especially when the sun is just coming up. Beautiful but overpriced.
We showed up to The Black Swan Pub in Shawnigan Lake and it felt like we'd landed in paradise...canadian paradise anyway lol. Thick green forest everywhere with a calm yet spooky vibe. the perfect place to bust out our brand of stoner metal. We were welcomed by local promoter Chris Gooding, who we cant thank enough. He gave us a place to stay/party while we stayed on the island, drove our ass around and showed us the best possible time we could have had. not to mention bought us waaayyyy too many drinks (even after being warned he may regret it, not knowing how much we usually drink $$$$$ ( i personally feel bad for drinking 80 bucks worth of double rye and cokes, then puking it all up after a jager shot :( sorry bro, but THANKS!). so one more time we'd like to say THANK YOU, to Chris Gooding. The show went great and we made many friends during our stay. The people in shawnigan lake were definitely the nicest of the whole tour and i still cant believe the hospitality we received. We look forward to returning to the island next year for a solid island tour as well as a tour of all of western canada. Thanks to everyone who was a part of this tour, and thanks to everyone who supports us. also, thanks to Bloated Pig who made the trip WAAAYY more fun. we drank all day and cried laughing. good times.
Also, We are starting to write material for our full length debut album. more info soon!
p.s. Kris found his guitar eventually. it is being mailed back to him soon.
Hello there, Greetings again from the Lordosis camp.
We just got home from our little tour and can safely say we had the time of our lives!! We hit Edmonton first, joined by Bloated Pig and played the Rendezvous to decent crowd for edmonton standards (i have the feeling they like their Death Metal and Grindcore there, definately weird territory for a stoner band.) extra special thanks to Calvin at the Rendezvous for knowing how to treat a band on the road, and for introducing us to the most intense shot on the planet: The Churchburner!! (Yuck!) also, we gotta give a shout out to Rodney Ordell, the best soundguy ever. have a drink with him sometime and find out why. Wicked live sound bro!!
After Edmonton we made our way east (without Bloated Pig) to Lloydminster to play the Phunkin Gruuve with local Calgary act STINGER!!. The venue here was top notch, including a VIP room that actually looked like a VIP room (it even had a velvet rope to get in!) The show went great despite being yelled at imediately after getting off stage lol (i ventured outside with my beer to catch my breath and got yelled at like a little kid by the bar owner. i guess he didnt see the other 9 people outside, also with beers, not getting yelled at. lol i dont hold it against him. though it did ruin my good mood for most of the night. (R.G.)) we look forward to returning to Lloyd to play this venue again. great stage/sound and definately one of the best crowds of the tour.
After Lloyd we took a couple days off to get some rest before we headed out west to beautiful British Columbia. Vancouver was our next show.
After a long drive and after many bowls smoked we finally arrived at The Funky Winkerbeans pub. smack dab in one of the worst parts of downtown Vancouver. We were told by the bartender not to park anywhere near the venue if we didnt want our van getting broken into. not having any better ideas, we simply parked across the street in front of the venue and kept a close eye on the van (the best view was inside, drinking whiskey and smoking lol). Bloated Pig joined us again for this show and it was great to have friends with us in such a different environment then what we are used to. i hate to say it but downtown Vancouver really felt like Winnipeg this time. scary stuff lol. the show went great and the sound was killer. local vancouver bands GRAVES and DEVOTION put on a great set. and we hope to share the stage with em again. Thanks to Wendy Thirteen for setting the show up.
