Hello, friends! Just wanted to give everyone an update on the album...things are nearing completion! Next week the mixing process should be wrapping up, and then it will be mastered and sent off to be printed. Thank you so much for waiting this out with me! It's taken longer than I thought it would, but I know it's worth it. At any rate, I wanted to go ahead and post the track listing for the album. This isn't necessarily how they'll be listed on the album, but these are all the songs. 1. First Phase 2. Waiting Arms 3. Grace 4. Confession 5. Meant to Be 6. Too Many Lies 7. Enough 8. Broken People 9. Turn Away 10. Not the One 11. Back to Boston 12. Waiting So that's it! My original vision for the album would have been something more like a "glorified demo," with eight or nine tracks that were mostly acoustic. At the suggestion of Jeff Covert and my family, we started to give more songs the "full band treatment." Before I knew it, we were looking at twelve song album! I really think you're going to like it, so just hold on a little longer! The music is on the way! Peace! Ben
Hello, friends! I have some fantastic news...yesterday we finished recording the album! Yep, after a year of picking the songs, working out parts, and lots and lots of takes, the recording process has been finished! Thank you so much for your support through the past year...it means the world to me! So what's next? Well, in January we'll be mixing the album, and once that's finished it will be mastered. After that, it will be coming your way! 2012 is shaping up to be a fantastic year. New band members, several gigs in the works, the album release...things are getting really exciting! I'll keep you posted, but keep visiting the ReverbNation page of the Facebook page for the latest info! Thanks again, and keep spreading the word about the new sound that's going around! Peace! Ben
Hello again! Ben here with an update on the album! We were back in studio last Saturday, and I'm happy to say that things are going well, and the album is nearing completion! At this point, eight of the twelve songs are finished and waiting to be mixed and mastered. It's a very exciting time.
On Saturday, we recorded a banjo track for "Broken People." I really wanted my grandfather, Bill Hensley, to be on the album, and I'm thankful that it worked out. Those of you who have had the privilege to hear him perform know that he is a fantastic musician. We also put some BGV's to "Not the One." My brothers, Caleb and Ethan Berumez, did some fantastic work, as did Jeff Covert. All in all it was an awesome day!
I'll be back in studio next Thursday, and I'll keep you posted on how things are going. Be sure to check this page often, as I have a few surprises in the works! Thanks, friends!
Hello, friends! I had another awesome session with Jeff Covert today, and I wanted to pass along an update on the album. If you remember a few posts back, I mentioned how much fun it was to record B3 parts. Today's session supports my former conclusion! Jeff had already recorded some fantastic drum and bass tracks for the song "Confession," and so we started off the day by putting down some B3 parts on to that tune. I think you'll really like the sound! It's amazing to hear my songs come together as finished products. Next, we went to the electric guitar to round out the piece. Before we called it a night we were able to work on "Too Many Lies" and "Turn Away," although "Confession" was the day's main focus. Next up, we'll probably be working on some final acoustic guitar tracks (replacing the scratch tracks), and then it's on to vocals! Things are really moving along, so check back here for the latest updates! Peace! Ben
You know, there's nothing quite like seeing over a thousand little stuffed cows with parachutes being dropped out of a helicopter. I was able to see such a sight at the Chick-fil-a Cow Drop today. With Connor Godwin on the keys, and Ethan Berumez on the drums, we were able to open the event today, and then hand out business cards and flyers. All in all, it was a pretty neat day! Also, we went on a mini photo shoot yesterday, to have some pictures for the flyers. I'll have to post some online soon. Next weekend, we'll be out at Java Jacks, and the one after that, it's the Chick-fil-a Open Mic Night! May will be a good month for shows!
Hello, friends! Last Friday I was back in studio. Sadly, I wasn't able to record any vocals, as my allergies have kicked into high gear. VA is a wonderful place for pollen! They're clearing up now, however, so vocals will be coming along soon. We were able to put piano and B3 parts on two more songs, which brings us to three songs that are now finished as far as instrumentation goes! We'll still need to record vocals and mix them, of course, but this is very exciting! Also, we started guitar tracks for two more songs. They'll have a slightly more stripped down sound to them, but still something more than a "solo acoustic" sound. Well, we're trying to see if we can work on some vocals next week. I'll keep you posted! Peace!
Hello, friends! Last Monday I was back in studio at Wally Cleaver's Recording Studio with the amazing Jeff Covert, and things are looking good! We have three tracks that we're working on so far, but at the end of the recording session we started talking about the game plan for next time. We have a few scratch tracks in the cue, too, so we'll be building around those soon. It's an amazing thing to watch a project like this come together. After all the writing and gigging, all the reworking of songs, it's wonderful to see them finally taking shape as finished, polished tunes. I'll be going back this Friday...I'll keep you posted! Peace, Ben
