Alex is set to release his new single ‘Lonely Kid’, available on all major digital download and streaming platforms from November 27th. The release comes backed with acoustic track ‘The Great Deprived’, recorded live at the legendary Monnow Valley Studios. The video for ‘Lonely Kid’ features a cameo appearance from John Gregory, former England international footballer and club manager of Alex’s beloved Aston Villa F.C. Proceeds from the single will go to the children’s cancer charity www.hhho.org.uk. When being introduced to Alex Lipinski, the first thing that hits you is the voice. The caressing sympathy, full-throated resentment, and the raw rockabilly excitement have grabbed unwary listeners at clubs from his native West Country to Krakow, from Philadelphia to New York and beyond. Through his extensive gigging, both solo and with his band, Alex has earned a strong reputation and a number of notable fans including Liam Gallagher, Huey Morgan, Tom Robinson, Gary Powell (The Libertines) and Steve Craddock. One listen to the urgent, fresh and resonant Lonely Kid, and it’s easy to see why. Having teamed up with Bonehead (Oasis) to create a new band, Phoneys & The Freaks in 2014, and releasing an EP through the seminal Cherry Red label and playing a number of major festivals, Alex has spent much of 2015 honing and recording his new album in Berlin with Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) which will see the light of day in 2016 on Anton’s ‘A’ Recordings label.
‘Going Nowhere Fast’ is now featured on board British Airways flights as part of the Next Generation radio show. Anyone flying with BA can tune in. Not travelling anywhere? You can listen to the full Bristol show here (Going Nowhere Fast features at 41 minutes): https://www.mixcloud.com/silasarmstrong/next-generation-bristol-nextgenbrs/
Alex plays The Alternative Escape Festival in Brighton next Thursday (14th May). He plays two shows at two venues; The Joker at 5.15pm, and The Black Lion at 7.45pm. Entry to both gigs are FREE. No wristband needed.

Introducing Phoneys & The Freaks, a brand new collaboration between Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs and singer/songwriter Alex Lipinski. Having been blown away by Alex’s support slots for his previous band last year, the former Oasis guitarist and Lipinski soon developed a working relationship and began writing and recording together; Phoneys & The Freaks was born. The resulting sessions produced elements of The Verve, traces of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and shades of others who can pen instantly memorable stadium sized anthems. Sell out gigs in London and Manchester have showcased what Phoneys & The Freaks can produce when they bring their songs to life on stage. With a summer of festivals planned and a debut EP out now on Cherry Red Records, 2014 is already proving to be a busy year indeed for the two musicians.
