Derek here from Via The Sun. It's been a LONG time since I last posted on here to give an update on Via The Sun. Almost two years to be exact and I'm semi ashamed of that but you've survived.
Plenty has been going on with Via The Sun over the last two years. For instance, we've released two CDs in that span of time. We released "Theatrics" in Jan 2012 and "Parallels" which is our acoustic CD in May 2012. We've played with some national acts, amazing local acts, and in various cities. We shot a music video for our song "Atrophy" off of our CD "Theatrics" and released a live video of "Bad Roots" off of the same CD.
Needless to say we have been very busy over that span of time. This has not changed at all going into 2013 and if anything will only be even more busy. We're currently recording for our 3rd CD and just about have guitars finished. This next CD is going to be amazing and while I'm personally unsure if people will receive it better than "Theatrics" I can say that I feel better at this point of recording than I ever have about any band I've been in. I think you'll hear and feel in our music the growth we've had as a band.
We're going to have shows coming up all over the place and I'm truly looking forward to meeting a lot of new faces while building upon friendships with the already familiar faces. Keep spreading the word for us and we'll keep playing the shows you want to see!
Hope you are all doing well! Just wanted to stop in and sort of give a small update on Via The Sun.
We recently played a couple shows over the last couple of weeks. Played in Akron at the Music with Social 66, OfHuman, and Bad Trouble. This was our first show and it went over very well. A bit nervous on my end but that is expected with the first show.
We played over the weekend at Peabodys with Impending Lies, Social 66, Relic, Rosella, and others. It was definitely an amazing show and I felt we rose up to leave a mark on the scene with our show (even if it were cut a little short).
Being on stage with these guys is an amazing feeling and I think our connection shows on the stage. We've put a lot of time into this band and we are finally able to put it out there for you all to see and experience.
Onto some other quick news we have officially brought in Mark Gordon as our bassist. He played a few of the shows with us and as expected meshed amazingly with us. He will definitely help us take the step forward as we aim to get our sound spread across this music scene.
I guess the final task is landing the drummer which is no easy task. Dean Johnson has done an absolutely amazing job filling in on the shows for us and we feel helps make our live shows that much better. To find someone to live up to those standards is no easy task. He has set the bar high!
I'm gonna jump off here though. I hope for those who came out to the shows that you had as much fun as we did. Stay in touch and keep checking back as we will have some updates on shows, merch, music, and other various things. Remember to keep spreading us around!
I'm gonna make this short and sweet.
I'd like to say that I am very excited about what this band will be doing this year and I can't wait to get out there to start spreading our sound.
Steve, Chris, and I have spent over a year writing the material you will hear. We hope that our endless amount of effort, passion, and desire will come across in what you hear from us.
We hope to see all of you at a show in the near future and we appreciate any/all support that you give us.
