My life has been a series of events. Of Which I've been caught in the suspense. Been fighting for my life and swinging for the fence. Which has brought me to a point in my life for a deeper desire. Thru the rain, thru the pain, the change and mainly thru the Fayah.
See I've been given a gift, a purpose. Not just a reason for breathing, but a clear defined meaning, that digs way beneath the surface. And although people make themselves out to be glorified and worshipped. Like they themsleves created breath , the birds and the bees and the rest of us are worthless.
But their words are but bitter fads. Commerialized, never internalized, phony's with the gift of gab. So now I march to a beat of a different rythmn. Kuz I overstand schisms, of corporate america, and everything that comes with em. From pop cultured teens to my generation that feens, off of skinny jeans, celebrities, more popular by their felonies. Creating a fake impression, of avoidable life lessons, dats depressing the masses. Leaving us cold bitter n stagnant.
And yes I'm from paradise, the islands, where you vacation at. But what most don’t see, is the poverty, homelessness, which they try to cover and smother my sisters n brothers into a fake facade. Please, do not applaud. This is no reason to clap, but to inact a spark if you would. to your town or your hood. To tell them there's but lil time, so simple rhymes, will have to do.

Well with 12/21/12 going by with being more of a media frenzy. Its time to look back on the times that we've had and look/reach forward to what lies ahead!
For me 2012 was great! Co-created a monstrous Hip Hop group, had another beautiful child, dropped 3 features on 3 different Mixtapes (6 songs in all) all within the span of month, mentored two senior high students on creating a Hip Hop show and all while helping to raise a family of 5 and working a 9-5!
As we move into 2013, I foresee huge goals and dreams being reached; from every area of life. I don't want to give away too much yet but know that my success in life is not only for myself. I hope and aim to raise the standard in the music industry, uplift my generation to be better then those before us and to give my family and friends the means to be free from the burdens of life.
I hope you've been encouraged to reflect on what type of a year this has been for you and what the future holds in store. All the best to you and yours!
Eating at Mcds with my lil bro (I know don't judge me lol). And these senior citizens ask us about a church here. I told em the name and they said, "oh the pastor told my son, they require 20% of the gross income on ur check!" SMH...STOP TREATING GOD N HIS PPL LIKE A BUSINESS AND YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY SEE THE HAND OF GOD IN UR MINISTRY!
Traditions were made by man, music is inspired thru the almighty!
What is music? In its simplest meaning music is melodic sound kept to a specific rhythm and tempo. I could get technical with levels of vibrations and all that but we’ll save that for another blog. Throughout the existence of humankind, music like everything else, has changed and continues to evolve. Over the last few decades though, music along with technology have taken huge leaps! Keyboards and Synth’s, with their hundreds of effects, have taken the place of a lot of the instruments that would take to create the sounds desired. Electricity brought forth electric drums, guitars, drum/loop machines and so on. Any organic musical sound can be duplicated (not to say that it’s better) by machines. And now what was exclusively produced in million dollar high end recording studio’s can now be done on your laptop! Purchasing music has dramatically changed too. From Vinyl LP’s sold in record/music stores to singles, mix tapes and EP’s being sold online. From creating, to engineering, producing and marketing; music has made serious moves. My main reason for writing this blog is to share how music is changing and what we can do to preserve great music! Like anything in life people will have opinions; about food, sports and especially music. My opinion is that music is a tool used to promote two of life’s necessities; truth and love! Within the realm of truth, music can speak towards everything. Truth on how our world is politically, environmentally, socially, economically. Truth can be spoken about beliefs right down to who is most important in your life. As with truth, love does the same thing, yet it encompasses much more. Peace, happiness, joy, possessions are just a few things that are covered in the subject of love. Like many things in life, Truth and Love can be misused and misunderstood. Within my three favorite genres of music, Reggae, Hip Hop and Rhythm and Blues; music has made unbelievable changes. From the late, great Robert Nesta Marley, Afrika Bambaataa and Marvin Gaye. Pioneers in their craft, they set up a standard of music that to this day can barely be touched. They spoke about global issues like poverty, war, political injustice. And also about love: between two people, for a child, for a people. Their songs can still be heard Throughout the radio airwaves, sampled in tracks and covered over and over again! Yet these styles of music have been altered by a new breed of negatively driven artists, fooled by the media hype and consumed by their own self ego. These artists desire fame, money and power; the very things that the originators of these styles had no care for. Leaving our youth, and everyone for that matter to either follow suit with the “new flow” of music or to cut against the grain hoping to cause a conscious flow of music! The music industry itself is as corrupted as ever. Record labels (most of them), are looking for more “marketable” artists; people who look the part, act the part and oh yeah they should sing too. Lyrical content is not so much a requirement as following the groove of the masses.
Has music made changes? Yes! Are they all bad? No. What can we do to keep real music alive; who is willing to make a change? Stay tuned for the next blog!
