By the way my show starts at 11.am not 12 noon. As some of you know I collect musical instruments for kids who cannot afford them. My gig on the 31st at the 4-H Festival I will be collecting instruments for the school in Richwood,WV that got hit very hard by the flood and they need our help. So if you have something feel free to send me a note. Thank you Still Pickin' Bill
Well it looks like I am heading back to Va. This week to play in Floyd my old stomping ground will be good to see some friends and make new ones. Will also have my brand new CD, On The Road (surviving) will me and would be happy to sign any copies if you would like. Spring time is coming to New York, slow but sure and looking forward to be moving up this way. Sure a lot of pretty places up this way and tons of pickin’ friends. Well all for now… Hope everyone out there is enjoying spring!
Well folks, we will be receiving another patch of CD’s in the mail this week. What we did also was to add two more tracks to this CD. The two tracks will also include Don’t Blame Me and Sherry’s Song. So you will be able to download them online or buy the while CD with words and credits. Our thank to all the support we have received after the fire! I will keep on writing as long as I am above ground.
Next Week Jeremy Baum will be backing me up on the accordion and here are some of the people Jeremy has worked with, touring or recording with Shemekia Copeland, The Official Blues Brothers Revue, Levon Helm, the North Mississippi Allstars, John Hammond Jr., Jim Weider, Melvin Sparks, Sue Foley, Debbie Davies, Gil Paris, Chris O'Leary, Vance Gilbert, Slam Allen, and many more. He also was officially recognized and inducted as a Master Blues Artist in the New York Blues Hall of Fame!
We met at the Beacon Sloop Club and never have played together but wow Jeremy really added to my set there. So this is going to be different and very cool!
Our 2nd pressing of the new CD On The Road (Surviving) will be out soon near the 17th of March with two added tracks, Sherry’s Song, Don’t Blame Me. Because of the fire I had, the CD’s went up in smoke so hang in there folks, coming soon!
I am looking forward to a few things going on next month. For one I look forward to be playing with Guy Davis and David Amram that will be on March 6th at The Turning Point. They both have been very kind in helping me get back on my feet after the fire which took most of what I had in this world. Then I will performing with Jeremy Baum on March 19th as part of the Open Boat Series with the Clearwater. What they do is clear out a space in their large wood shop and we play there. There is a pot luck, so if you come bring some food. It’s a great way to make friends. Than on the 31st of March I will be doing two sets at the Dogwood Roadhouse back in Va. This looks like it will be fun and will be the first time at this place. Here is hoping everyone out there is staying warm! Still Pickin' Bill Hudson
On Christmas Eve everything I had in this world burnt down and it’s all mostly gone. It is a strange feeling to watch your home burn down and you cannot do anything except to watch it burn, burn down. I want to thank all the friends who I know and who I don’t know who have helped me and my roommate. Everyone in the music world has come to my aide with kind comments, gifts that are beyond what my heart can handle at times. A man who I don’t know is sending me by UPS a 1973 Martin-D28. How does one say think you to this? I don’t know but I tried. I am alive and so is my roommate and the cats so I am starting the new year I guess with a fresh start as they say, here we go….. Still Pickin’ Bill
