Good day my friends,
You know what’s coming don’t you????
The Trio plays the music of “A Charlie Brown Christmas”!!!!
Vince Guaraldi composed iconic music for the Peanuts special, and the trio takes you through the whole album cut by cut, with a few surprises here and there. The story behind the making of the special is compelling and dramatic- the special was almost not made, the TV producers thought the music was weird and inappropriate; the time crunch to get the special made was intense. I’ll tell some stories about the making of the music and the special in between the songs- they make a fascinating narrative backdrop to the music.
This show has become very popular and we are now performing it at 3 locations, with fantastic bassist Michael Marcus, and our little drummer boy, Matt Jorgensen:
Sunday December 13th, doors open at 6pm for cocktails, with concert starting at 7pm. At the Cornish Playhouse at the Seattle Center. Ticket link here: http://charlie.brownpapertickets.com/ (if you buy tickets before Thanksgiving for this show, you can get em for discount!)
The piano at Cornish Playhouse is like being a painter: it’s smooth, responsive, clear, and rich. We played the show there last year, and I felt that this was the ideal place for this concert: great seating, wonderful acoustics, exemplary piano- an all around great vibe. This show is a benefit for Strawberry Theatre Workshop, one of my favorite theaters in Seattle. They have a home now at 12th Ave Arts and I hope you are able to catch some of their current season. http://www.strawshop.org/
Saturday, December 19th, 7:30pm at Vashon Allied Arts, (19704 Vashon Hwy SW Vashon Island, WA) Ticket link here: http://vashonalliedarts.org/jazz/
just click on the Jose Gonzales Trio link.
We did the show last year at Vashon Allied Arts, and it was a smashing success. They asked us if we would do it again this year…hmmm, let me think…YES! It’s nice to take this show to one of the island communities that are so supportive and kind. And, if you aren’t able to make the Seattle show, this makes a nice outing on the ferry.
Sunday, December 20th, 4pm at Tim Noah’s Thumbnail Theatre in Snohomish, WA. (1211 4th St, Snohomish, WA 98290) Ticket link here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2413470
This lovely community-focused theater is perfect for this show. We are so happy to bring it up north. Tim and Cyndi and the rest of the gang at the Theatre are so welcoming, kind and gracious- it’s a real pleasure to perform there.
Other notable shows:

The Scotch and Vine has a broad, comprehensive selection of Scotch as well as a wide variety of world class wines from around the globe. That’s right, we’re doing a New Year’s show…well, an early New Year’s show. Let’s be honest, I like to be home by midnight on New Years. I booked this show for the early birds, or for people who want a little action before the clock strikes…9! This show is all ages. Fun times will be had.
I hope the holiday season keeps you and your loved ones safe and joyful.
In appreciation, Jose Gonzales

Ladies and Gentlemen, The trio goes on a bit of a hiatus as I hunker down with music director/band leader duties for a show I’m so excited to be working on: Passing Strange. For those who aren’t in the know, Passing Strange is a rock musical that played on Broadway in 2008, garnering critical acclaim and awards. The story deals with the discovery, growth, and expectations of being an artist, in particular a musician. It’s a beautiful story, and the songs are raw, energizing, and rocking! I choose my theater projects very carefully, as they take up so much of my time and energy. This is one project I’m glad to give my time to. I urge you to come and see the Northwest premiere of this exciting and vital piece. Playing at ACT in the Bullitt Cabaret: June 10th – June 29th. Here’s the website for ticket info and other details: http://www.acttheatre.org/Tickets/OnStage/PassingStrange?date=6%2f14%2f2014 But one more gig before it begins. It would be lovely to have your tapping toes and bright smiles to enjoy while we groove the night away… Thursday, May 8th: at Musiquarium at the Triple Door. 9-midnight. We’ll be downtown this night and would love to see your face. No cover. Upstairs at the Triple Door in the bar. Sweetness. ~ Jose

Hello friends, *Friday, Sept. 20th* I have a special show at Egan's Ballard Jam House. Why is it special? The venue. If you haven't been to Egan's, it's one of those music clubs that keeps the music front and center. Loud talkers and dinner conversationalists are at a minimum- the focus is on the MUSIC! I'll be creating and sharing the sounds with two fantastic musicians: Michael Marcus on bass and Robert Rushing on drums. I can't say enough about these lovely, aware musicians, so I'll just let their playing do the talking. I truly hope you'll be able to make this special engagement.
