Well folks Santa was good to us and we hope he was good to you! None of us remember New Years but from what we’ve heard we had a great time wandering around the city listening to some quality music. And so we’ve returned to london, settled ourselves back into the daily grind of balancing school and arts and are ready to get shit started. Right now were still writing and piecing together our first full length album, and were due in the studio within the next month. As we are in the midst of yet another epic FROST week here at UWO, this evenings festivities consist of blog writing, show booking and binge drinking. We will see you all at Jim Bob’s later on, stay tuned. ;)
Since our debut ep. last spring we haven’t seen much studio time, until now! As a band we applied for a FACTOR grant, #dollarbills, so that we can actually afford to make and produce our album this time. “My Way”, “Rennaissance”, and “Funky Freaky Nasty” are the three sexy, revolutionary tracks that we sent in as demo’s for the application. These songs will also be featured on our upcoming full length album. These are the first three songs we’ve actually written start to finish as a band as opposed to me simply handing them a finished piece of work and asking them to learn it. As a result of this our sound is really starting to form a unique identity. I think it’s because of the way our influences seem to compliment each other in such an abstract way, but you be the judge! Were in the middle of writing a lot now as the snow approaches, for some reason this time of year always brings out a much less aggressive style of writing than what Im used to. I’m finding myself writing about reflection and meditation, as opposed to sex and love. Our full length album which should be started in the new year will encompass a lot of new themes that we have been working on not only as a band but as a group of friends living together. It’s going to be a very honest piece of work and i’m genuinely excited for you to hear it.
Let’s get you caught up on everything Calvin James as quick as we can, shall we.
This past summer was a crazy and hectic one. We wrapped up our last few weeks of freedom with the first ever Campstock Tour, touring and performing for summer camps all around the Muskoka area. After weeks of no sleep, long days, little food, screaming children, Challah and having our first little taste of tour life, we were excited to get back to our house in London, and get back to the daily grind. Little did we know we would be in for a very busy few months leading into the new year. Since the summer we’ve been trying to balance school, work, money, our social lives, music, promotion, marketing the list goes on. #vacationneeded Needless to say, we’ve been working. Now don’t think that were these working stiffs that have no fun or facial expressions, we will always be the boys running around breaking things, smoking cigarettes in the bathroom, listening to the newest Seal cover album, you know, badass tings. Sometimes you just gotta be the working man, i guess that’s what I am.
