Charlie Reed / Blog

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted a Gibson Hummingbird acoustic guitar. The gorgeous red guitar has alway called my name on every music website and in every musical instrument store I've visited for as for back as I can remember. While in Nashville, I had the opportunity to play one at the local Guitar Center. Someone had actually sold a vintage 1964 Hummingbird to the store and I just had to get it in my hands. The guitar played beautifully as I always knew it would but the strangest thing happened: I actually realized how much I LOVED my Gibson Songwriter acoustic guitar. It isn't as aesthetically pleasing to my eye but I've bonded with it, performed with it, written songs with it. At the end of the day, I'd rather have my trusty war-worn guitar than that expensive, gorgeous guitar. Maybe one of these days I'll buy one but for now I'll stick with what I have. Unless someone's just itching to give one away.
