The Meeting House Tour

Saturday, September 27, 7pm Chester, CT. In an effort to highlight New England historic and architecturally significant gathering spaces that simultaneously offer acoustically wonderful musical venues, a group of local musicians that share a mutual respect for such things, have organized a series of musical events titled "The Meeting House Tour", to take place in thoughtfully selected properties in the region. The first concert will take place at the 1795 Chester Meeting House, 4 Liberty Street in Chester, CT on September 27th at 7:00pm. The Chester Meeting House, listed in the National Register for Historic Sites, includes in its interior a gorgeous stage and a horseshoe-shaped balcony installed in 1876 which secured its role as part of the "musical renaissance" of the Lower Connecticut Valley with Goodspeed Opera House, music schools and conservatories. It is one of a very few buildings in New England which have been in continual use for over 200 years. The originators of the The Meeting House Tour concept believe that bringing a variety of regional talent into these special places to perform original and traditional music will be effective in ensuring that they will continue to be used by the community to congregate and to enjoy an evening of live music. The shows, which will be spread out across New England, will feature established performers as well as up-and-coming acts, focusing on original music in the folk and roots music genres. Each show will feature three bands or solo artists, with at least one band being from the immediate area of the venue. The bands performing on September 27th include. Hartford-based Alt/Folk band Wise Old Moon; singer-songwriter Jake Klar, who hails from Northhampton, MA; and sibling Americana/Folk duo The Meadows Brothers, who call the town of Chester home. September 27, 2014 7pm Chester Meeting House, 4 Liberty Street in Chester, CT 06412 Purchase Tickets at the Door $10
