It's that time of year again... Yeah Fall when the candy flows freely! Free Candy is gearing up for the annual Halloween cover show at the Jinx where we play as the Cramps cover band, the Human Flies. We have some new tunes for all you Cramps addicts. Can you guess what one of them is, Mike? We are also playing the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon again. We are also opening for a band from Belgium called Smooth and the Bully Boys at the Wormhole on Nov 1. Yummy Rockabilly! So be on the look out for Free Candy and catch a show. You might just hear a new song or two that we have been working on.
ok... It has been awhile since we updated everyone. We finally got the album, "Box Crusher", finished and in the mail. Boy, does it look and sound AWESOME! Big thanks go out to everyone that made it possible. We have scheduled the release party for 4/20 at the Jinx. It is a joint release party with "Sins of Godless Men". So we better see you there!

HOWL-ween Party! 10/29 2nd Annual Masquerade Ball presented by Pagan Pride Day at the Wormhole. Fairy Tale themes with costume and pumpkin craving contests 10/31 Halloween Tribute Band event where Free Candy is the Human Flies (Cramps cover band). Other cover bands include Minor Threat, Misfits, Black Sabbath, Johnny Cash. Always an event to catch. Local bands switch up and play for Halloween. Well, everyone switched band members except Free Candy ;) Next week... Rock 'n' Roll Marathon on Nov. 5 at the crack of dawn!
Halfway through the month and going strong... we are almost booked for the entire next month! Halloween is a VERY busy time for us as you can imagine. We had the Zombie Bash this past weekend. What a great show! We dressed as zombies and Kleo was spitting blood! Pound Finger and Anyone's Ghost rocked it with us. This weekend we play Utrecht Art Store on Friday 6-10 PM then we hussle it to the Cyberclectic Exchange at the Wormhole for a midnight show. We got picked up by the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon on Nov. 5, which has pushed our recording date back a few weeks since the Zombie Walk is Nov. 12. So recording is scheduled for Al's Birthday on the weekend of Nov. 19-20. "Box Crusher" is currently an EP with 7 strong songs but we are hoping to create a full-length album if we can make it by the deadline. Serious has a few new songs up his sleeves. We opened a Kickstarter to help out with the recording. We are splitting the cost and asking the public to match what we will put in. In return for your donation, you get Free Candy merch and the satisfaction of helping out your favorite band. After all, it is about getting the music to the people and giving them the best product we can! So, go visit Kickstarter and help us out, please! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1955802351/free-candy-box-crusher-ep?ref=live
Free Candy is booking up October and into November. We will be attending the Cyberclectic Art Exchange twice this month, where will be selling new shirts that we have gotten made locally and these shirts GLOW IN THE DARK! Kleokatt and Al are going to be doing alterations to some shirts to individualize them. First event is October 7 at the Wormhole.
Free Candy will also be donating to Crafts for the Cure on October 8. This is an event for Breast Cancer Awareness and Susan G. Komen Foundation. Lots of crafts, music and dancing! Follow the link on our gig calendar to get details
Also, don't forget about the free psychobilly/rockabilly show at the Rock House on October 11. Our friends the Recently Deceased and the Silverhounds will be traveling from Maryland for this. DON'T MISS IT! We are hoping to get more shows lined up with awesome out-of-towner soon so come support this and let us know who you want to join Free Candy on the stage next.
October 15 is the Zombie Bash downtown. Come dressed like a zombie and rock out with a few local bands. Oh yes, there will be Free Candy!
BTW.. We have decided to record in late November (on Al's Birthday!)
Soooo... we keep getting the same question. When is Free Candy gonna record an album? The answer... very soon! We are aiming to team up with Donald Moats from Habitat Noise to record our stuff in November. It is up in the air as to how many songs will be on the album at this time. We have three new songs that might make the cut. So look for "The Box Crusher" to be out by the first of the year.
Ok... so here it is... Free Candy's blog! We are starting a blog so everyone can keep up with the who, what, when, where, why and how of Free Candy! The next couple of shows we have, we will be sharing the stage with out of town bands. The Wormhole (8/10/11) with special guests, the Nervous Ticks from Richmond, VA should be rockin'! We have another gig at Sweet Melissa's (8/14/11) with special guests, the Piss Shivers from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. We are trying to bring some fresh new music to the area and making new friends to boot.
