Well, Well, 2014 it moving along nicely and CHASING JANE has no plans of slowing down. The heat is on and the ice is melting. Seeds have been planted for great growth this SPRING/Summer. Its been awhile however the debut ALBUM the Canadian Music industry has been waiting for is about to drop. APRIL 12 is the official day of CHASING JANES album release. Prime Minister Steven 'Gary" Harper has officially made this day #CHASINGJANEDAY #APRIL12
It was a year ago today , Chasing Jane made the switch from audio DJ to Live Drums and Guitar. Ryan Hargrave - had been trying out drummers in early February to replace members who left the band in 2011. However on March 20th Roy Bartell came up to the Scugog Ranch and changed the history and make-up of the band for ever! Ryan’s cousin Chase Dickinson agreed to play guitar in late February however they needed to find a drummer. Ryan and Chase continued to try out drummers while writing their own songs and material during their spare time. When Roy showed up to Chase’s parents Ranch something was in the air and it was not just the turn of spring or the 22 degree warm weather. A certain mystique was in the room whether the boys knew it or not Chasing Jane “Hip-Rock” history was about to be made. Ryan Chase and Roy broke right into rhythm and rhyme free-styling rock while just grooving out like they had been playing together for years. The synchronicities of sound began to flow through the 3 guys. After utter astonishment Roy could not believe how well they had sounded and it was only the warm up jam. An hour passed before they noticed that they had just been fiddling around getting caught in the moment and loosing track of all time, it was sublime. Ryan and Chase then showed Roy their material with songs such as “Mamma Cooked the Bacon” , “Dirty Little Girl” and their Arthur C Clarke inspired ‘Reptilian Overlords”. When the jam finished Roy said, Can I join? I would love to be a part of this! Usually Ryan and Chase after trying out a drummer would say! “Thanks man it was awesome, were going to discuss what we want to do as a band and we will get back to you in 2 days”. This time, it was way different Ryan and Chase both looked at each other and looked at Roy and said YES. Chase was floored on how well they sounded and meshed together. Ryan enjoyed the playing ability of Roy and how he put heart and soul into his music. Dylan Atkinson , had always been telling Ryan that he should have Roy Bartell as his drummer. Dylan brought this up often and the band is sure glad he stuck his head out for Roy, because without Roy there would be no Chasing Jane. March 20th Ryan and Chase shook hands with Roy and said he was in. Roy was just coming off leaving “The Change” and just had put 10 years of playing rock n roll into that band. Roy asked us if we wanted a Bassist? We said yeah sure who do you have in mind. Roy said the best there is and the best I have played with, the one they call “Kevin Pogue”. Ryan knew Kevin because they had gone to the same elementary and secondary schools together in Stouffville. Chase and Ryan told Roy if he wanted Kevin then Kevin was in! Now looking back at one year ago today, it seems were in an Ice age, because instead of that sweet smell of spring we are still stuck out in the cold from February. Thank you Mother Nature, however we want to thank the universe because life is so awesome for the band at the moment. In one year’s time we have had the pleasure of playing 101.5 Wolfstock, The Historic Red Dog, Bovine Sex Club, Velvet Underground, Wegz Stadium Bar and the Horseshoe Tavern. Currently we are crafting our first EP and are working with great producers and people! Good friend of the band Dylan Atkinson is working on some great film promo for your eyes to view soon. Enjoy stay positive, because a lot can happen and a lot of good is just waiting for everyone! Thank you for staying with us. Our Happy “Un-Birthday”
