New Happenings

The men of Project 62 are back in the studio preparing eight demos for the next release of songs ! Our guitarist Mark Chalmers has been asked to manage a studio and in the meanwhile has been testing it's capabilities on Project 62's batch of new material and some reworked versions of the band's favorites. The band is off to Melbourne to play with long-time band pals Greenthief at the Brunswick Hotel (Aug 28th) and other well-known venues across the music capital. Project 62 is planning to collaborate with more musicians across Toowoomba. The first of many events to come, "Pimp My Song", invited solo musicians from around Toowoomba to send their own song to Project 62 to add a band arrangement and other various embellishments. After one rehearsal with the songwriter, performances were held at the Irish Club on Sunday June 1st with a great crowd turnout and three very content songwriters supported by a backing band (your humble narrators of course). Videos of Pimp My Song can be viewed here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=658605970861961&l=2248432965507845310 OTHER NEWS Our leadsinger Jason Lawler has been building a bush tucker garden for a school at Eagleby as part of his new career into developing sustainable vegetable gardens. Feel lucky to live where I live

By Peter Woods (the keyboardist)

The town we live in is blessed with such an array of musical acts ranging from progressive to electronic to hip hop to rock that captures the reminisce of Bob Dylan's tones to indie pop to hardcore metal. Toowoomba has now become this staple for traveling bands to draw new followers from. The visiting bands from places where you would expect a live original music scene to be flourishing have played down such beliefs. Each venue of nine for a town of 100,000 supports original music. Witness the artwork and design that goes into the fliers adorning the glass walls of cafes, hotels and art galleries, line ups that show the growing connections between people. No boundaries or exclusive groups here, just a willingness to see where it goes, to let it grow.
