We have finished the first song which is written more for the live band we are working towards.
It will be uploaded here after we have given a copy to the BBC, hopefully Pill Jackson might play it on his Sunday show this week.

2007 - 2008
Current mood: cheerful
Category: Music
Well 2007 has been a great year for XamXam
The project only cam together little over a year ago, then in January 2007 we took 8 musicians over to The Gambia to work with dozens of local Gambian musicians.
Over the year we have been working on an album which captures music of The Gambia and fuses it with European styles to make something quite unique.
Alongside this we have been working to turn the music into a live show. The concert in Brighton's Komedia last November gave us the opportunity to try out the set which had the whole place dancing in no time.
Confident we now have some great tunes we will be putting all our efforts into bringing you all this music in 2008.
The album should be hitting iTunes this summer there is already a remix of the Jolla track Yamma Jatta on the great compilation CD Earth Dance - Chill le Monde and plans for another track on a BBC compilation early in the new year.
We are searching for festivals around Europe this summer and contemplating a warm up tour of the south east of England. We are even trying to put together a mega concert for next new year in The Gambia, if you fancy a new year bash in the glorious African sunshine rather than the cold European winter.
Hope you all had a merry christmas and have a happy new year.
Jon

A big thank you to all of you who came down the the concert at the Komedia on the 1st.
I hope you all had as much fun as we did and by the number of you dancing along it seemed you were.
A big thanks to Sara-Lee and Phil from BBC southern counties radio, South East Arts Council and African Night Fever. Without your help and support we would never had played this gig.
For those of you who don't know this band was meet for the first time in January this year and after 2 weeks in the Gambia we had created an album of music.
We played our first concert at the Babylon Lounge earlier this year after only a few rehearsals then spent the summer working on the set. This was only our second concert and it was an honor to play the Komedia.
Keep watching for live video and audio from the concert, photos and sorry for not having the CD ready for the concert but rest assured we are putting all our energy now into making the album the best we can. By the time of the next concert we will have CD's more t-shirts and almost even more musicians on stage.
