Well... it's winter. It's cold. But in time I'm sure that will change as spring approaches. Well, we find ourselves in yet another New Year with the hopes of new opportunities and looking forward to seeing what is coming up this year. I hope that everyone is looking forward to what is waiting on us down the road. Last year was a really busy year for me and the music sort of got bogged down. A casualty I suppose of making a living... But I am glad that those that do enjoy it and have enjoyed thus far still let me know how much it means to them, and for asking when the next album will be released. In 2014 I was pretty busy on some other projects that took me to many places. I guess the highlight was the journey west to CA and through AZ for a couple of weeks. It was a great time and I got to see things that hadn't before and meet with new people. But that is one thing that I love about life; you never know what is coming next. But of course we don't look forward to the bad stuff, but it is what life is all about. Good and bad. So anyway... for those of you that are still wondering, I am going to try and have the next collection out around the end of July this year. I have been gathering material and have a few to polish up that I think may be something pretty decent. If you didn't get the email I sent out in December about the upcoming album, I haven't given it an "official" name yet, but I have a few ideas. So stay tuned and as the time gets closer, I will be letting you in on a name so you can watch for it. Also the app for Android devices is still available if you would like to check that out and get it for yourself. It's free!! What to you have to lose?! You can find it in the Google Play Store under Apps or on the link on my Reverbnation profile. Getting it through Reverbnation will keep you updated on what is going on, and of course any new upcoming music will be added to the player so you can take it with you. And this year, I plan to work more on the social aspect of things. Also don't forget that I have a Facebook band page also that you can Like and follow. I will do my utmost to keep it updated so you will know what is going on. Here is to a New Year. May you all be blessed this year and things are superb for you all year long. Thanks for following and listening. It means a lot to me.
It's another year to make things happen. It seems that we always wait until that 'New Year' to make changes or improvements in what we do or want to do. I suppose sometimes we should not wait and make changes as they are needed, rather than waiting for a 'reason' to do it. Last year was an incredibly busy year for me making changes and transitions in my professional life, and it seemed to take away from the things I needed to do and such. Now that this part has passed, I look forward to this year and what it will bring. Most importantly, I hope to be bringing new music to everyone this year. I have been working on some new material, so we will see what the final product brings. It's amazing how sometimes the end product is drastically different from the concept. As far as my music, the song 'Tomorrow' was one of those projects that morphed from one idea to three over the course of 3 years. No kidding. On the flip side, 'Missing You' was a one shot deal in one evening. It seems that sometimes, all that is needed is a tune and an inspiration, and there it is. Other times it's a journey. Sometimes I like those the best. To look back and see how it all came together. Memories. I wish the best to you this year. I thank everyone that has supported me over the past 3 years, and I look forward to providing more music for you to enjoy. I love creating it. And I hope you enjoy listening. May this year bring you the blessings you need and desire.
Wow. Where does the time go? It's amazing how quick the days and weeks seem to pass by. But a New Year brings with it new opportunities. And who knows what will happen?! I look forward to what it will bring. I am hoping to make some changes in my direction that I hope will open up new avenues in what I want to do. And I want to especially thank everyone that has shown me support over this past year. I truly do appreciate it and I appreciate the messages and love sent with them from those who support my music. As we go into this new year I hope to be bringing into it new music. I look forward to what comes next. Here is to wishing each and everyone of you a wonderful New Year and I wish the best for you, your families, and also to those of you who are my fellow musicians... your fans!! Blessings to you all in 2013!!
October. Wow. Where do the years go? It seems that as soon as the new year begins, next thing you know, it's Christmas. But all of that aside, it is October. My favorite month. Fall is getting geared up and soon will be most of the holidays everyone enjoys. It seems that throughout my life most of the significant changes took place in October. So it makes me wonder what may come up this year. It was in October I released my "Nothing's Changed" CD and it continues to be well received even after all this time. And to those of you that have heard it, purchased it, and let me know how much you enjoyed it, I just want to say thank you. Thanks for the support. It really means a lot. As the weather statrts to turn cool, take time this Fall to find new music. There is a LOT of Indie music out there and it's just waiting to be discovered. And what you find, may just surprise you. Have a great Fall!!
Funny how time passes in a flash... I remember what it was like putting together my recent CD. I think about all of the work that went into it, and how at the time it was so overwhelming. But at the same time it was a mission, a journey, a need to complete something that needed to be done. Funny how the simple things of the production were the most fun to do. I remember trying to gather some of the sounds that were incorporated into the songs and how it was sometimes so frustrating to get "just the right sound" to fit it. At times I did get rather tired of trying to perfect it. Nature doesn't always cooperate. But you know, I miss it. It was like a mission to complete a story that I had to tell no matter what it took to get it completed. But the end result, was, I think, something magic. It's amazing how all of the elements came together in just the right way. How taking ideas from inside and actually making them come to life was something so fulfilling. If you haven't had a chance to hear the complete CD, check it out if you get the chance. See if you agree. Now, I think it's time to begin a new project. What will this one be? I don't even know, until it begins. Time passes so quickly. If there is something that you need to do that you haven't done, now is the time. Don't wait. Because there may come a day when you may be saying.... I wish I had.... I took that chance. I created something that will be with me until I am no longer around. But now I can say.... I did.
Can you hear the music? All you need to do is listen. Today we spend a lot of time doing more things with less time it seems. In an age when life is supposed to be made... simpler. Technology meant to help us do things more efficiently, seems at times to be more of a burden than a tool for helping us accomplish our goals. I spend a lot of my day doing things that I really don't feel contribute to who I am as a person. Sure it's what I do and what helps me to provide for my family, but it's not really who I am. So I keep searching for the music in what I do. Most times it eludes me. At times we need to stop and just listen. Listen for the music in everything around us. All of creation sings in its own way. Tonight as I was outside, I could hear the sounds of the tree frogs in the distance as darkness was falling A sure sign Spring is here, and the stirring of memories of when I was young, when I heard the songs of nature and of life more clearly. We all need to do more of that. To just stop. Stop and listen. Music is the fabric of our lives and our souls. Celebrate it with what you love to listen to. Create it out of nothing, even if you don't believe you have the talent. It is possible. God gave us this gift. Instilled in us all. How you choose to use it is up to you. Can you hear the music? Yes. I can.
Can you believe that it's almost 2012?.... Wow, where does the time go? I think back about the past year and the events and changes this journey has taken me through and presented to me. And I must say.... it has been a great year for exploring, finding new opportunities and having some surprises. I have gained a lot of new friends and fans along the way, and to each of you out there, I am truly grateful for the support you have shown me this year. I hope next year brings even more opportunities. After the CD release, my journey took me to LA for the ASCAP Expo 2011. Not only did I get to learn a lot about the industry as a whole, and what opportunities are out there for Indie artists, I also made new friends, met music producers, and had a song critiqued while I was there. From this I was told that; "...you may have something there with 'Missing You.'" That was cool. I got to meet Paul Williams and Kevin Rudolf, I also talked with Sinbad the comedian, and saw artists such as Fergie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Sara Bareillis, just to name a few. While I was out there, I actually got to visit one of my long distance voice-over friends JS Gilbert. He made the little added extra trip to San Fran well worth it. Thanks to you my friend if you are reading this. I had a wonderful time. Dim Sum in Chinatown... That was cool. "Nothing's Changed" also made it to France where it was played on Radio Aria there for a few weeks. That was something totally unexpected. I was also streamed on Indie Rhythm radio and picked up even more streaming followers on some of the digital sites like Spotify, Napster and eMusic. Now.... Jango Airplay has been a venue that has been a considerable asset for my music. In the past 3 weeks alone I have picked up 45 new followers, and it looks to keep growing, 17 so far this week alone. Thank you. More to come.... Even after a rocky start with the release, God has truly blessed me during this journey, and it's to Him that I give the praise to. This is something I have always wanted to do, and it's been a blast. Thanks to all of you that has shared this with me. Who knows what will come next?... 2012 is a new year. A new one for all of us. Have a wonderful New Year everyone and may you be richly blessed this upcoming year. And again... Thanks!
It's true. No matter what the mainstream music people say, or "suggest" what's great, exploring Indie music can really turn up some great surprises. After browsing through artists on sites such as here at Reverbnation, CD Baby and other sites, there are some seriously good... no.. great musicians out there that could give the pop station artists a run for their money. I think that having sites available, such as Reverbnation, that help to advance the exposure of the Indie bands, is something more people need to explore. At times it's like going on a treasure hunt. One link will take you to another and then another, uncovering music you never thought was there. If you are looking for something new, different, or more of what you like.... take the journey. Whether it is here or any of the other Indie or social sites... you may find some of the best music you have ever heard. That's a fact.
What is it that drives you? What is that one thing that you enjoy doing more than anything else? Most of us do have interests other than the "norm" we know. I love music. I love creating it. And so do a lot of my friends that are musicians. After a recent visit to LA this past spring for the ASCAP Expo, I was really amazed how many people there are trying to be "heard." I know that we all can't be the latest and greatest, but each of us that do create music, do have a voice. And a unique style. Although these styles vary greatly among each artist, this doesn't mean that each person's style is right or wrong. As I learned while there, just be yourself. Someone out there WANTS to hear what you can do. It's just a matter of finding the right vehicle to get it to the people that want it. And just because what you like and produce may not appeal to your friends, that doesn't mean you should change it. People used to tell me that I needed to have a particular sound. Something "mainstream." Well... that's not who I am. And trying to produce something just to please others, rather than create it from inside of myself, is not doing what I know, or showing who I am and therefore lacks the true emotion that is used to produce it. Again... I love music. Do what you love. Be who you are. People want to hear it.
Have you ever thought of what constitutes "your music?" Is it how it makes you feel? Is it about memories it evokes when you hear "that certain song?" All of my life I have loved music. Whether it has been listening to some of my favorite artists or even creating my own, there will always be a place in my life for it. One thing that has amazed me over the years is how much we, as a collective people, all over the world seem to have in common this one thread. We ALL love music of some kind. After watching Palladia on HD, plus having my CD played in France on radio ARIA, I have been amazed how the people in Europe love a lot of the music that comes from the States. But sometimes it seems that's not reciprocal here. Which I believe is our loss. There are a lot of independent musicians out there that have some incredible material, no matter where they may reside. It only takes a few minutes to look around. So explore the world of Indie music. And you may be surprised. You might find that one song that reminds you of a beautiful day that seemed to last forever. Or it may just be the song that inspired you to write something you may have never dreamed of. Either way... Keep in touch with YOUR music, no matter what. It may just change your life
