Adam Kobetich & The Susquehanna Hat Company: Featuring The Kobors / Blog

at this point in time...

Greetings, y'all! The last couple of months have been a whirlwind of activity for us here at the Susquehanna Hat Company in the most beautiful ways possible. We are both privileged and pleased to welcome Alexis Almeida on flute and Ian J. Everett on guitar into our group, they have been with us for a little over a month now and have both contributed so much to our sound and energy. We have had some exciting musical opportunities recently and are eagerly looking forward to more on the horizon - be sure to catch us with the Inheritance and Jason Webley on June 4th at Flipnotics!

We here at SHC enjoy an impressive variety of music and love to learn whatever we can get our hands on...we are currently in the midst of not only resurrecting some old time/bluegrass tunes from the days of yore of the group but adding new songs in strange languages to our repertoire as well. We are striving to constantly expand our horizons and learn as much as we can from all the beautiful souls around us, which leads us to our next point...

Our most beloved of banjo players, Adam Kobetich, co-creator of the SHC, will be taking a long and exciting bicycle trip beginning the first week of July or so. His goal in doing so is to explore the regions which gave birth to the sort of music that is so frequently played on the banjo; bluegrass and mountain string music; and not only learn more about that but share his wacky, particularly unorthodox (and badass!) approach to pickin' with these folks - for as we all now know, klezmer sounds wicked on a banjo! We will miss him terribly but are super excited for him to explore and develop these musical territories, SO: not only should you be sure to come boogie down with us before our li'l hiatus, but you should also contribute to Adam's project via KickStarter (link below!). Not only are there rewards, but his birthday is coming up too...how many more reasons do ya need?! Fund the project here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1848128975/have-banjo-will-travel

as always we love and appreciate all you folks out there and hope to see your smiling, Polish-singing faces before us sometime very soon...
