Stuck With Green / Blog

Bios, Profiles, Content, oh my!

I'm trying to find out how to update my bio on here and I can't find it. I started here in the comedy genre and really don't want to change that as I still want to make comedy/satirical songs. But my art is so much more. Instrumentals. I score movies. I make industrial rock songs. Oh well. This stuff is hard to keep up with.

I'm disappointed with this "anything is possible" world. Sounds like anarchy.

The same people who were rejoicing that "anything is possible" in America when Obama was elected president are now weeping that "anything is possible" now that Trump is president. There's not a greater example out there in our country that shows that we're just not listening to each other. The divide keeps growing and growing. The disconnect keeps growing and growing. "Anything is possible" works great if it's "under God" but remember how we removed that from our schools, our pledges, our money and pretty much everywhere in this country? This discourse doesn't even need to be about a Christian God or a Muslim God or .....whatever! It's like people want to genre God with their pious knowledge of religion(s). I'm talking about an all-good all-powerful all-knowing Spirit called God. We used to have faith in such a being. We were supposed to be "one nation, UNDER GOD". Over time, our principles have drifted away from seeking the guidance of an all-good all-powerful all-knowing Spirit. "Anything is possible UNDER GOD" ... who is a perfect Being .... sounds a whole better than "anything is possible UNDER ANYONE ON THIS PLANET OR EVEN IN THIS REALM OF EXISTENCE". The problem is, people walk around this existence like the idea of perfection (or a perfect being) just IS.... as if it wasn't put in our minds by SOMEONE WHO IS PERFECT. I wish folks believed in the Bible verses like I do (Matt 19:26, Phil 4:13, Luke 1:37). An "Anything is possible WITH GOD" kind of future sounds much more hopeful than the "anything is possible" narrative of today. But I digress. We have a generation now who was raised with no prayers in school... no Bibles.... no anything that pointed them to a higher Being or higher Purpose. It's a generation lacking soul.... lacking Spiritual fortitude. They might commit to something that feels good than something or someone who prioritizes truth. So in our division, there's no real desire to find a common ground on truth. It more has to do nowadays with what feels good in our context. Obama felt good enough then. Trump felt good enough now. There's no higher purpose we're seeking for establishing this country anymore. You can hear it in the narratives of debates and conversations. These conversations are all very selfish in nature, even if masked in a "what's best for this country" narrative.

RIP Momma 12/7/2016

I'm gonna miss my Mother so much! One thing I'll for sure miss about her is her sense of humor. She had a great sense of humor! Even when she was in the hospital suffering, she'd try to make you laugh! Here's a link to an Instagram picture (at end of this blog) of her wearing a Bipap machine mask. She was claiming to be "Dearth" Vader (she was mocking his name) while singing and humming Vader's theme music: da da da da dada da dada 🎶! Then, in between breaths from the machine she would say in a deep voice, "Ron, I am your Mother. Da da da da dada da dada! 🎶" This would go on for a while. She told me to take this picture and I'm glad she did so that I could tell this one story among many many many stories of her awesome sense of humor and comedic drama! 🙄😂 I'm going to miss HER and so much ABOUT her! https://www.instagram.com/p/BN0NinsBD9c/

Dear America/World, Superman (in the movie BvS) Is How Your Gifted People Feel??

What if the gifted people in the USA (or World for that matter) felt like Superman? I'm talking about the top 1% of the population. The innovative. The creative. The spectacularly gift and truly intelligent. What if those people felt like Superman in the movie BvS?

If you haven't seen it already, director Zach Snyder is getting blasted by critics for continuing to make movies about a Superman who is deeply conflicted. Not the Superman of old that we used to know... the one who was confidently fighting for truth, justice and the American Way. No, this Superman struggles about what or who he is fighting for.

This Superman asks, "Is it worth it?" Superman, one who is gifted with extraordinary ability to help humanity, isn't as sure as he used to be about how to use that ability. Should it be for the world? Should it be for his own pleasure? Should it be for one love, Lois Lane? And quite frankly, is there anything or anyone worth LIVING FOR on this planet? Including himself! Is humanity hopeless? Is being gifted in this context a hopeless thing? The consistent identity crisis in Snyder's films for the Superman is repeatedly spoken by the one who should emotionally resonate with us all... Superman's mother: "Be their hero, Clark. Be their angel, be their monument, be anything they need you to be... or be none of it. You don't owe this world a thing. You never did."

Now I'm not saying that I'm anything special or extraordinary. There's nothing special about me, but count me as someone who totally and 100% gets the idea of Superman the way Snyder has cast and gets continually blasted by critics for doing so. Superman is conflicted but so is the world. Superman has serious doubts what to do in this world and this world has serious doubts about its Superman. For those of us who feel and relate to the new revelations of this contemporary Superman, these harsh criticisms are hard to understand. It's just a movie. But in the same hand, these harsh criticisms of this good movie makes me feel alien too.

TB Bucs QB Jameis Winston's Fix The Whys FREE DOWNLOAD

Winning "Football is about taking things." - Jameis Winston

"We gotta fix the 'whys' on this team. We gotta fix 'why' we play football. We got too many different 'whys' right now. When we get that same 'why', the 'whys' that we want to win together, when we become that TRUE family, we're gonna be hell!" - Jameis Winston

You can definitely say this a lot in life too. Sometimes good things can fall into your lap but most of the time, it seems you gotta "take it/earn it". Nothing worthwhile in this life seems to come for free. There always seems to be a price to pay.

As far as team dynamics are concerned, everybody has to be on the same page. Sometimes a chain can only be as strong as its weakest link but you can overcome weaknesses with the help of your teammates as long as everyone is fighting for the same purpose. If there are too many purposes (whys) among your team's players, the team will fail.

UNCOMFORTABLE WITH LABELS

Unfortunately, using labels seem to be the fastest way to communicate ideas. In composition, we use keywords to describe our music. To me, a keyword is a label too. I use them but it's mainly just to do my job. And I hope I do it well. But a keyword can be so misleading. There are instrumentals that seem obviously ominous or sad, but I hear so much love and beauty in them. It's such a paradox. One person might hear that instrumental and think Thor's sad over Loki's death. Or someone lost the love of their life. But I think love, grace, mercy, beauty, etc.

Florida Film Festival 2015

At the Florida Film Festival this week and I met some wonderful independent filmmakers at an open panel in Winter Park, FL. All the movies featured at the panel (and their respective filmmakers) were extremely fascinating and creative! Two movies that stood out to me: The Desk by Andrew Goldman and I Am A Knife With Legs by Bennett Jones. Google it! Best regards, SWG
