Howdy folks. After going in circles in regards to how I felt about the idea of crowdfunding, I finally decided to give it a whirl. After other efforts to get a debut album under way have failed, I figured I would give this a go and see how it went. Please join me and help me reach my goal. Click the link at get tuned in. Contribute if you can. Many Thanks in advance. http://igg.me/at/jpasouthernlove
Now let me see, what else is there? Ah, yes! The move to Athens GA. In the beginning of August CreekSide Band, a dear friend and four furry critters relocated to Athens GA. Though I was only there for 10 days before returning home to Nelson County, Athens proved to be a great place to be musically and I can't wait to get back down there and continue to network and make an impression on the scene down there. It's a great town with a lot of talented musicians running around and I'm crazy excited to meet new people down there and continue to spread the music and expand the musical family. Ok, so let's get back to the reason I came back home so quickly from GA. ONE: I had several solo gigs already in place, TWO: CreekSide Band played an amazing gig for Labor Day Weekend and THREE: the LOCKN' music festival here in Nelson County VA. So let's talk a little bit moe about that. Thanks to Patrick Sullivan and the other members of the FLOAT FISHERMEN OF VIRGINIA, myself, the rest of CSB and some close friends and family were able to spend a day floating the James River in canoes (fishing, swimming, trying to catch water snakes.) We wrapped that day up with a RiverSide night time performance. We had a great set, the campers were an amazing audience! We of course stayed up much later after the gig to enjoy adult beverages and some late night campfire pickin'. It was an incredible experience and we hope to do it again next year. So here we are, finally getting towards the end of the official Summer Season and it's time for LOCKN'. Can I just say I got to see Tom Petty and the HeartBreakers and let that be enough said?? No, of course not. There was so much more. I was able to attend the festival as event staff, helping a good friend of mine (Todd Rath aka Blue Toad) run a food tent for the weekend. We got rocked, by the music and the hungry festival goers. But getting to hear so many great bands made the days go by pretty quickly. I didn't get to see all of the bands that I wanted, however I did get to See Wilco, Drive By Truckers, Tom Petty and the Allman Brothers. So the weekend was incredible. Did I mention I saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers?? Ok, just saying. Wow!! And although I was not able to see Willie Nelson or Grace Potter and few others, they all sounded amazing! Well there you have it. That's the rundown of my crazy summer of playing music and getting to hear some great music. It has been a wild ride for the past few months, and there are many more exciting things coming up in the near future. As always, please stay tuned, thanks for reading and thanks for your support. You make this job possible. I will drop some more lines soon. Until then, you can get weekly updates via My TUNE in TUESDAY YOUTUBE videos and status updates via Reverbnation, FB & Twitter. CHERS Y'awll!!
Well Folks, It has been one "Crazy Summer season for sure. Let me start off by saying thank you to all of you who have continued to support my music (both solo & CreekSide Band) by coming to shows, watching videos, purchasing (downloading) songs, sharing with friends and making this musical journey continue to happen for me. Also a big THANK YOU to all of he places that continue to book me and allow me to be a full time musician, I am truly grateful. So, where to begin? I guess with Memorial Day weekend. Myself and Dan Dennis of CreekSide Band had just gotten back from an amazing road trip across the country to California and back. Which was a whirlwind trip that included playing the Open Mic at the World Famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville TN as well as the Douglas Corner Cafe where people like Garth Brooks got their start. From there we went to Memphis TN, on to Ausitn TX, Las Cruces NM, Tucson AZ, out to Temecula CA and then a straight 38 hour drive back home to Nelson County VA in order to play with CSB @ Wild Wolf Brewery to kick off the Summer Season. Like I said, it was a whirlwind, but amazing. The gig at WW Brewery would be the start to an extremely busy summer for me, playing 4-6 gigs a week at times. Phew!!!! But I loved every minute of it. Some highlights from the Summer were CSB getting to share the bill and open for Chamomile and Whiskey @ RAPUNZEL'S in Lovingston VA. It was an awesome night of music w friends and family and good times were had by all. It's such a fun place to play. Also, myself and CreekSide band were honored with being the live music treat for the folks that attended the GRAND OPENING of OceanWide Seafood in Nellysford Va. It was a helluva Patriotic Weekend........fireworks, red white & blue, flag waving and National Anthem singing. All the good stuff! Another awesome adventure was competing in the Country Showdown at the Agricultural Fair in Fredericksburg VA. The radio hosts (THUNDER 104.5) we're fantastic, and the other musicians were crazy talented. Competition was fierce and I didn't advance to the State Finals, but I did make some new friends and amazing connections that made the experience well worth the time put in and the trips back and forth.
I'm super excited about my new group, CreekSide Band. Link up with us on social media and come check us out soon!
