I got asked recently with the economy so bad, venues struggling to stay open and bands throwing in the towel why do you do what you do at your age ?
After giving it some thought this was my reply :
Music is a harsh and demanding mistress with a heart colder than your ex girlfriends. I most certainly am not the best picker,singer/songwriter out there there are many far better than me but success does not hinge on who or what you know nor luck or even a large amount of talent though talent is a factor. sucess hinges on persistence and perservierance and that I have an abundance of.
You have to believe in yourself and what you do and never..never..never say quit.
most look at failure as a let down, loss, disappointment and even disgrace.
I prefer to look at it as a life lesson learned and a stepping stone to success
