Barry Feeney to leave Ouroboros

It is with sadness that we are announcing the departure of guitarist Barry Feeney from Ouroboros. Barry has decided to move back to Canberra to focus on his other band Psynonemous along with other musical projects.

"The Decision did not come easy for any of us but I feel it’s the best one for myself and OUROBOROS"- Barry Feeney.

Barry has dedicated the last couple of months completely to Ouroboros, and we are so grateful for everything he has bought to the band.

We wish Barry and Psynonemous success in all of their endeavors, and we would be honored to tour with them in the coming years.

Ouroboros will continue to play all shows currently booked as a four piece, which includes playing alongside The Amenta and Ruins in July.

Ouroboros receive funding from the Australian Council of the Arts

Ouroboros has just received funding from the Australia Council for the Arts to write and produce a full-length follow-up to Glorification of a Myth. “All the members of Ouroboros feel greatly honoured for this privilege. The Australia Council funding is enabling us to spend our time and energy creating the best music we possibly can. We have already commenced working on new material, and I can confidently say that this is shaping up to be by far our best work to date. I’d like to extend an extremely warm ‘thank you’ to the Music Board at the Australia Council for their daring and generous support.” – David Horgan The Ouroboros team is pushing for a 2013 release date. More updates will follow in the coming months.

"Sanctuary" film clip released

The members of Ouroboros are immensely excited to unveil the film clip for “Sanctuary”, a song from their debut album Glorification of a Myth. The “Sanctuary“ video was directed and edited by Paul Shedlowich of Plint Productions in Sydney and was inspired by Colin Marks’ Glorification of a Myth album artwork and the ancient Greek myth of Chronos devouring his children.

"Our aim was to create a world-class video that represented themes present in “Sanctuary” as well as the Glorification of a Myth album as a whole. This pushed us to use some risky—but ultimately effective—guerilla filmmaking tactics which took us to challenging locations amid torrential weather. Shedlowich did an incredible job of handling both the creative and administrative aspects of the production and pulled together an astoundingly talented and hard-working team of camera operators, actors, photographers, makeup artists and behind-the-scenes people to make his vision a reality. The whole Ouroboros team is thrilled with the result and we can’t wait to share it with our fans." – David Horgan

Having recently completed his chemotherapy Michael Conti has made a speedy recovery and is looking forward to playing live in the coming months, while continuing to write and record new Material. “I would like to send a big thank you to the fans, family and friends for their overwhelming support. It has been the driving factor in helping me over the line. This support has highly motivated me for the things to come and I'm looking forward to giving something back!” - Conti

The band is also extremely excited to announce that “Glorification of a Myth” will be distibuted in Asia through MourningSound Records. The Album will be released in Asia in April/May 2012 with future tours to follow.

And finally, Ouroboros have been busy shooting the first official film clip from “Glorification of a Myth”. The clip will be completed soon and a trailer for the video will be released in the coming days.

Ouroboros forced to cancel Sonic Forge Festival + ABSU shows

Unfortunately Ouroboros' bass player Michael Conti has just had emergency surgery to remove a tumor. The operation was successful however Conti will now need to undergo a precautionary course of chemotherapy.

These unforeseen circumstances have forced us to cancel our scheduled performance at Sonic Forge festival this coming weekend and the Absu shows in January. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank everyone for their understanding and support.

Conti is expected to make a full recovery, and we wish him all the best for the coming weeks.

Ouroboros will continue to prepare for the new album and will be back on the live circuit in 2012
