Things and Stuff

New Tunes!

Recorded at our rehearsal space, the new tracks are 100% completely improvised- nothing was worked out ahead of time.

As you can hear, it's a slight detour in direction for us- more emphasis on extended jams, though we do plan to eventually hash these out into proper length tunes. Take a listen and let us know what you think.

Updates, Etc

July gigs went extremely well. Howlin' Wolf show on the 29th was a loose improvisation free for all; Southport Hall on the 30th was forty minutes of controlled excellence, by contrast. Big ups to the guys for a hell of a weekend, and especially Danny, who had been in the hospital for a few days but absolutely ripped the Southport show. We'd also like to thank our friends @ NOLA Music for putting on the Southport show, as well as Credo Blues Society and Shamarr Allen for playing with us. No gigs on the books at the moment. We're hoping to go into the rehearsal room and lay down some tunes for you- the live songs we have up are good, but it's hard to hear all of the intracacies like you can with a proper studio recording. And as always, if you've got a gig for us, don't hesitate to send us a message!

New Members, New Shows

Help us in welcoming Sam Green to the mix on keys. We're eagerly waiting for his debut at our next gig. Seaking of gigs, we've added a show on July 30th at Southport Hall- opening slot for New Orleans' own musicial genius Shamarr Allen!

Tunes, Etc

Finally has some music up. Songs were recorded "live" during rehearsal. Super low-fi; just a few mics in the room while we jammed out. Let us know what you think. Also, first gig in sometime is this Sunday- party @ Twelve Mile Limit, a block down from Finn McCool's. Early gig @ 6:00. Bono

Cha Cha Cha Cha Changes

Currently retooling the lineup (Matt has left us; no more vocals; possibly adding another horn player) and the set list (cutting the fat from our last show and adding quite a few new tunes).

First practice with the full band since our last show was this afternoon. Stay tuned, it's looking VERY promising.

Recording are on their way

We promise, we'll have some music up shortly. We record most of our practices- pretty low fi, just a couple of mics in the room- and finally have two or three recording that we think are up to standard. Look for them to be posted over the weekend.

First Gig- December 10th

Just booked our first gig for Friday, December 10th @ Circle Bar- our Christmas Spectactular! Look for us to hit the stage some time around 11:30, after a few of our old friends get the crowd warmed up. Expect about an hour or so from us, with a collection of our soon-to-be-classic originals and a few covers thrown in for good measure.

New Tunes

We've been working diligently on some new material, and probably have the base structure for eight or nine tunes right now. We'll probably post a few of these in the upcming weeks. Like we said, rough sketches, so please, take a listen and let us know what you think!

We're baaaaaaaaaaaack.....

Well, it's been about six months now. Couple of us former Kings got the urge to start playing again. So we are. We know, we know, the first question everyone's asked is, "Why the name change?" Well because, quite frankly, this ain't your daddy's Kings. The answer is two-fold: Firstly, we feel that each member of the Kings of Happy Hour was an integral piece of the pie. If this new band is missing even just one of us, then in our minds it has no right to go by that name. Secondly, it's not our intention to simply play old set lists- sure, we may throw out a nugget or two, but we're not intending to play ninety minutes of KOHH material with four or five new songs thrown in for good meaure. The sound may be familiar, but this is going to be a brand new creature. Anyways, that's all we've got for now. We are hoping- hoping- to be ready in time for another Christmas Soiree at Circle Bar. Until then, check back for updates. Bono
