Falling Apart EP Review - The Metal Detector

"What more could I ask for?... Right smack in the middle of my Best Of British themed month on Facebook, I get a request for an E.P review from the Manager of a British Metalcore Band... Hows that for bloody good timing eh?!

I've only just recently began checking out some Metalcore bands as a lot of people tend to complain that "It isn't Metal"! Well, let me tell you right now, This is in every way, a Metal E.P! All four of these tracks will rip your face right off without question and there is some moments in here where the tempo steps up so fast it could shake the the Earth off it's axis if turned up loud enough.

Hailing from the beautiful, history filled City of York, SHADOWS LIE WITHIN formed only 12 months ago. After a series of line-ups and a lot of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and AS I LAY DYING covers around local Pubs and Clubs, the band decided to start to write and perform their own material and have since built up quite a respectable following around the U.K.

The Band sound like they could have been together for a lot longer than a year and they fit together like seasoned professionals. There's some awesome drumming and the double bass drum work is well timed, fast and fiery, the Guitars and bass hold on to the beat with an iron grip and remain totally in sync throughout. There's even a "PANTERA- DOMINATION" styled moment during the title track which Is my personal favourite on here. The vocals are growling and full of rage, fitting perfectly with the arrangements within each track and pushing the sound to almost loiter on the verge of Death Metal.

The overall sound and mix on this E.P is absolutely superb and sounds really intense in headphones.

SHADOWS LIE WITHIN have a list of gig dates which can be found over on their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/shadowsliewithin

and/or on their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Shadows-lie-within/211192787662?ref=ts

If you are a fan of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE or any of the METALCORE scene, go and check them out, I certainly will when they come and play somewhere near me!
