They have been known to cover entire albums by Led Zepplin and the Who as well as perform entire shows of Country and Reggae. Artists as diverse as the Grateful Dead, the Flaming Lips, Willie Nelson and The Velvet Underground have seen their material interpreted by Mr. Blotto in the 2000+ shows the band has performed in the last 15 years, yet covers only pepper the bands hefty catalog of original material stemming from five studio albums and other unreleased crowd favorites. mr blotto open in a new window
Boukou Groove is a new collaboration between Donnie Sundal, Derwin "Big D" Perkins, and Jeffrey "Jellybean" Alexander that explores and combines the strong grooves of New Orleans blues/funk with clean, crisp jazz and soothing, soulful vocals with underlying reggae elements. Sitting in for this show will be Theryl “Houseman” DeClouet from the great New Orleans band Galactic!
Donnie Sundal has worn many musical hats over the span of his career - from studying the art of music, to playing with legends, to producing and engineering - Donnie truly exemplifies the versatility of a musical artist.
New Orleans born and raised, guitarist Derwin "Big D" Perkins played with Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen for 16 years, in addition to Bonnie Raitt for two years. This past season, viewers of the new hit show, HBO’s original series "Treme," could see Big D appearing as himself.
Jeffery "Jellybean" Alexander’s musical roots stem back to Reserve, Louisiana, where he grew up. His family reflects on how he would beat on pots, pans or whatever surface he could find. Little did they know that the zealous little drummer boy would later become an international traveler and one of New Orleans’ most well-respected musicians. facebook.com/pages/Boukou-Groove/142780122432749
