I can't believe how many people came out to support the band with their votes. This past week has been non stop as we have been polling for votes since they began counting last monday. Encouraged as we were with our big lead, we started to see our numbers dwindle as the other bands began to catch up and eventually pass us by. Then little by little the PeeWee nation continued to press the opposition until we regained the lead. Soon after they pulled the percentage numbers, so we have no idea where we stand. But I just wanted to say thanks to the hundreds of people who took the time to vote for PeeWee. We thank you!!!
I wanted to thank the PeeWee Nation that came out and supported the band tonight. It was incredible. But now we have to get the word out. The on-line voting for the grand prize begins on Aug. 20. Please click on the link below and vote for us on Aug. 20th. Thanks again, PeeWee http://wpb.org/waterfront/sunday-on-the-waterfront/
Big mega-thanks to all who came out to party with the band and enjoy Downtown At the Gardens last Saturday night! There was a sea of green shirts and the blarney was flowing! Special thanks to honorary Pee Wee member Meghan Ritmiller for coming out and lending her vocals to "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and "Moves Like Jagger". Jimmy's son Benny (10 years old) joined us onstage playing trumpet on the Bill Whithers classic "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone". Leon's kids, Maddie (10 years old) and Benjamin (7 years old) jumped up to lend a hand with percussion on "I Shot The Sherriff". We had spontaneous couples dancing in the audience and some newer toddler fans finding their inner boogie! Special shout out to Jon Andio and his wife for coming out, Michelle Kirk and friend Raj, the Carroll, Lachance, Archer and Shepard families. Angela Heiser made a special cameo from the balcony! We'll see you all next Thursday night, March 22nd at the Dirty Martini!
Looking back at the gig, it's a green blur. We love playing at Downtown at the Gardens. It is always such a comfortable place for us to play. It allows us to push some music we have never played before. It was time to play "Moves Like Jagger". It became an instant PWL Classic. We closed the show with it and left everyone wanting more. My son Benny brought his trumpet played "Ain't No Sunshine" with the band. He sounded great and we are thinking of other songs like "Lowrider" to incorporate that horn section sound. Leon's kids got in the act as well with some percussion. It was truly a family affair. We were playing inside the center courtyard, but on the east side. It was a different look, but the same energy. We feel very lucky to have become the Downtown at the Gardens "Holiday" Gig Premier Band. We hope to be back soon.
Last night was incredible. The band was is top form and the venue blew up. We brought the new year in on the back of a sweet version of Rapper's Delight. Close to 1000 people got up and started to dance 2011 away as hundreds of balloons dropped right on time. The crowd was full of all age groups grooving to the PWL sound. It was beautiful. We pulled out some new stuff, like What You Need, Mustang Sally/Messing With The Kid and Folsom Prison/That's Alright Mama Smashes as well. We were on the edge from the beginning and I think it paid off. We are plowing through stuff we would have never tried even 2 months ago. Our little sound system was up to the task and I think everyone just had a great time. It was our first New Year's Eve gig and hopefully not our last!!!!! Let's make it a PWL year!
Last night we threw down at the Old Key Lime. It was a 4 hour marathon of solid PeeWee. We broke out a new song, or should I say "Smash" of What I Like About You and R-O-C-K in the USA! We just went for it and in the middle of the song I looked at Leon and couldn't believe how good it sounded. The guys were all on the same page and we took off. It was a straight up high! The energy was amazing and the night was windy hot! Thanks to all of the PeeWee Nation that came out, including the Lachance Family Peeps, the Honey's and the Chief who picked up a round for the fellas! It was an all around get night with the included decompression conversation at the iHop with the crazy 3rd shift waiter! Can't wait till next time. cay there! JC

PWL hit a new height tonight. We rocked the Seabreeze Amphitheater and hope to keep this momentum going. The venue was the best. We had a green room and an introduction. I know that doesn't sound like much, but we felt very VIP. It is really a dream of ours to be playing music like this and this gig just fueled our fire. Thanks to the PeeWee Nation for coming out and supporting us.
