football, etc. began with New Brunswick's Tin Kitchen, guitarist/singer Lindsay Minton and bassist Mercy Harper moving to Houston, TX. They self-released the "First Down" EP in 2009 which garnered attention from emo revivalists everywhere. What the Houston Press referred to as “springy bass lines, off-pitch vocals and gnarled guitar” characterized the band’s sound and were cause for comparisons to Rainer Maria, Mineral, and American Football.
By the end of 2009, after releasing a split 7" with Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate), Count Your Lucky Stars Records had added football, etc. to their roster. In 2010, former Austin shoegazer James Vehslage (ex-For Those Who Know; Ringo Deathstarr; She, Sir) took over the drumming responsibilities in time to go on a summer tour and record the band's first full length effort in the fall.

Rock and Roll and Meandering Nonsense
“loaded with the kind of springy bass lines, off-pitch vocals and gnarled guitar that prompted Collective Zine UK to liken the local trio to mid-’90s Wisconsin emo trailblazers Rainer Maria”
“With jangly guitars and quaint basslines, frontwoman Lindsey Minton’s voice is nothing short of heavenly…infectious guitar lines, meticulous drumming and overall stronger songwriting in general. A big step up from a band already known for writing clever, memorable tunes.”
