Vell is a performer (singer/dancer/actress), blogger, beauty queen and self-advocate with autism.
Born in March 9, 1995 into a middle class business class family in Manila, Philippines and has 3 siblings.
She has autism spectrum disorder at the age of 3 and was classified as high function by her doctors and currently underwent psychological exams and interviews for assessment. Whilst coping, she began experiencing various forms of discrimination in relation to her condition were Vell remained hopeful and positive.
As an actor, she first acted in in many Christmas musical plays run by her special school including The Christmas Story (2002), A Message from Me (2003), Believe the Miracles of Christmas (2004), The Mission (2005) and Disney Princesses (2006). Vell made her professional theater career with Sining Tanghalan where she starred in "Ora Et Labora" (2013) and "In My Mind" (2014), and with KAPI (Kids Acts Philippines Inc.) "Romeo and Julier" (2014).
As a singer, she is known for singing in different events from corporate to concert. She performed for ASP's Angel's Walk for Autism Series (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014), World Autism Awareness Day (2009, 2010, 2011, 2014), ASP National Leaders' Week (2007, 2011, 2014), National Autism Consciousness Week (2010, 2012, 2015), Reverb (2015), Obra (2015), and others.
As a competitive singer, she starting competing in her alma mater's "Marian's Got Talent 2010" where she got 2nd place. In July 2014, Vell gained the 1st price for Folk Category in the all-PWD contest called "Paligsining ng mga Batang May K" and another triumph in August where she gained another 1st price in the localwide "Kundiman Sa Makati" where Vell is the first and only PWD to win the title. In 2015, Vell competed for a local constituency contest called Search for Talentadong PWD sa Makati Season 2 and won the 1st Place.
Apart from acting and singing, she is known for her telegenic attitude where Vell made her first television appearance in 2001 in which she had her first interview for GMA 7 Morning Show, Unang Hirit in 2001, followed by Bandila (2009) in which she was variously called "World Class" by Ces Drilon. In several of her interviews for 24 oras, she stated that she wanted to be an actress and a songwriter. made a TV appearance for Boses ng Masa and at 700 club aired in August 19, 2010. In 2013, Vell appeared in "Walang Tulugan with Master Showman."
Vell is also interested to beauty pageants, where Vell took part on the 1st Miss Possibilities Pageant where Vell got the "Miss Congeniality" Award and became a media sensation for her classical singing.
Vell Baria started singing at the very tender age of 3 and aspires to be a mainstream superstar that can "make people cried their hearts out". Vell's love for music started and grew up listening to the music of Lea Salonga, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Sarah Geronimo, Nina Girado, Sharon Cuneta, Yeng Constantino, Charice Pempengco and Yael Yuzon. Like any other performers, Vell has continued to reinvent herself and, over the years of her career, Vell is a devoted fan of Edison Chen, Siti Nurhaliza, Priscilla Chan and Dima Bilan in all which are her international idols
Vell credits Siti Nurhaliza's singing and her songs: "Kau Kekasihku" and "Jerat Percintaan" as influencing her to begin practicing vocal adlibs, as well as helping her pursue a habit to sing Indonesian and Malay languages. In which she sang her songs in particular "Jerat Percintaan" in which she won lots of praises by the YouTube users' public attention.
Vell also credits Dima Bilan also for his singing and his songs from his albums: "Vremya Reka" and "Na Beregu Neba" as influencing her to begin reflecting and practicing vocal control and vocal force, she also stated that his songs has it's horsepower and force in every notes of his songs, as well as helping her to bring out her emotions through her versions of her songs and to pursue a habit to sing Russian songs. In which Vell stated them has been both of Vell's "vocal idols" for years.
Apart from her influences in music, Vell showed great interest and appreciation to Eurovision Song Contest and became interested in opera singing after listening to classical songs from Verdi to Rossini and has expressed appreciation for classical singers such as Anna Netrebko, Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland, Renee Fleming, Malena Ernman and Katherine Jenkins. Her favorite performers include Filipp Kirkorov, Celine Dion, Larusso, Sofia Rotaru.
Vell's voice is categorized as both light-lyric and coloratura soprano. In her early career, the young Vell is said to have use her throat when singing especially when reaching high notes and belted notes. Initially, critics suggested that her vocals were more developed, powerful and unusually matured. Vell Baria, – whose range is frequently compared to those of Regine Velasquez, Beyonce, Svetlana Svetikova and Hitomi Shimatani.
Above her technical vocal abilities, Vell's defining characteristic as a vocalist has been her capability of expression without a piece of practice in interpreting songs to maintain natural looking performances.
