Lorena Fontana, singer-composer, attained her Certificate in Advanced Studies in Jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. In Italy she completed her studies as a lyric soprano, graduating at the “Vecchi-Tonelli” Music Institute. She also attained her degree in Jazz under the guidance of pianist Franco D’Andrea (Perigeo) while studying Big Band conduction with M° Bruno Tommaso. As a composer she wrote music for Tv/Radio programmes (RaiUno Italian National TV: 50° Zecchino D’Oro “Io gioco”) and for popular music venues in Italy (“L’angelo caduto” for nationally re-known pop band “Nomadi”). As a jazz singer/improviser she collaborated with Geoff Warren, Paolo Fresu, Kenny Wheeler, Andrea Centazzo, George Russell, etc. She is currently professor of Vocal Studies in Popular Style at the “Vecchi-Tonelli” Music Institute in Modena. She has been recording since 1991: her first Cd as leader was in 1998, featuring Paolo Fresu with Panastudio Productions and her most recent work was “Guccini in Jazz” published by Music Center in 2004 now available on Itunes.
