Recently described by Andy Cooney (Carnegie Hall Entertainer), when introducing Paddy and his band on the Andy Cooney Cruise of Irish Stars,
“I think they are wonderful...He’s going to be a Big Star”.
A fine recommendation that have been reinforced by three Irish Music Association awards and multiple tours around Europe and the US. From cruise ships in the Caribbean to a residency in Las Vegas and performing for the high rollers, Paddy has brought his music to many people all over the world.
In 2014, Paddy brought his show to 12 countries worldwide both with the group he has with his father “The Ryans” and also with his support musicians on his solo roadshow.
Recently focusing on his solo performance, he has appeared at several festivals and two tours of Ireland with his new lineup “The Paddy Ryan Band” receiving great acclaim.
From March 19th 2015, Paddy will be taking a sabbatical from The Ryans after a two week tour of the United States with the group. He will be performing as “The Paddy Ryan Band” for a six month tour of the States, followed by three further weeks of touring in Europe of the countries Denmark,Germany and The Netherland in August, before he returns home. All tour dates can be found on his schedule at www.paddyryanmusic.com.
At performances expect a variety of songs performed in a unique style with several instruments used throughout the show. People first heard Paddy as a young man playing in a group with his father Jacky a prominent singer on the Irish/Folk Scene in Britain. Paddy through his teens became a virtuoso performer on the Irish Tenor Banjo while his father did the majority of the singing. Observing his fathers technique, improved his singing performance and now he is the main singer in the group, well known for his power and tonality, but also willingness to embrace new ideas from his peers.
Currently performing his music, he uses a Baritone 8 String Guitar, when performing in a group format he also adds Tenor Banjo and Mandolin. The remainder of his group can consists of a combination of Guitar, Irish Tin Whistles, Percussion (Kit and Bodhran) and Banjo/Mandolin, with several different musicians performing these roles.
Although Paddy is very grateful for his large following and success worldwide, he is always trying to advance and steer his show to more people and places. Discussing the future and his plans with Irish TV he stated,
“This year Is a big year for me, i am currently launching my first solo album and will be touring the US for six months playing from Los Angeles to New York City...I will then be heading to Europe for a month of shows in Denmark and Germany, with a tour of Ireland planned in September. I intend to visit my followers in Australia and The Middle East in 2015 with the possibility of another Caribbean Cruise also in the near future.”
Currently organising his schedule for 2015, his biggest and busiest year yet, with a brand new album and a summer tour stretching across the Western Hemisphere. Regardless whether it is “Paddys Solo show”, his new group “The Paddy Ryan Band”, or his group with his father “The Ryans” he will have audiences engaged and leaving them wanting more.
