“Orphan Train - Electric Junk (CD, Kingsley Garden Music, Pop) Orphan Train is the one man band created by Aram Arslanian...a young fellow who is obviously focused and driven by the desire to create. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Arslanian now calls lives in Portland, Oregon. In addition to recording pop music Aram also scores music for television and takes on the role of producer when working with other bands. Sounds like one busy guy who's probably quickly becoming an in-demand name in important circles. Electric Junk is, in a word, fun. These pop songs incorporate elements from classic tunes from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and beyond...combining all the different influences into a surprisingly user friendly experience. These songs are instantly hummable and Arslanian's warm friendly vocals provide the perfect focal point. On the first spin or two we liked this album. After spinning it a few more times...we found ourselves falling in love with these unique songs.”
“GHOSTS IN A SEASON is a fine sophomore followup to EAST OF WESTERN, and a testament to Aram's ability to hew a fine CD out of a block of significant and troubling adversity. This guy is worth watching, and worth listening to. His vision, though occasionally troubling, is riveting. Anything he does in the future will, like GHOSTS IN A SEASON, be worth checking out again and again.”
“Although he makes a living supporting others...that is likely to change over time as he continues to pursue his own career. Arslanian's tunes keep getting better...and Orphan Train offers a wealth of superb soft pop compositions that are incredibly genuine and unique. Aram's music sounds something like Peter Gabriel if he were playing straightforward soft pop. The lyrics are reflective and the arrangements subdued and subtle. But the songs are the real treat here. Heartfelt and sincere, Arslanian's compositions strike real emotional chords. Beautiful tracks include "Raise the Rent," "Bundleful," "Shine On," and "Isobel." Our favorite track is "Lucy's Gone"...which will easily end up being one of the best songs of the year. A remarkable and thoroughly rewarding album. Highly recommended. (Rating: 5+++)”
“Hook-laden, bouncy, and fun, while still being highly captivating, reeling you in with every beat and lyrics that comes your way, Aram manages to write twelve songs that will withstand time and always be an album you can turn to and enjoy. I'll give it an A. ”
