Featuring: Oblivion Myth Lost Generation Piranah VAHALLA Price: $12 ADV // $15 DOS Age Limit: 18+ At the age of 45 and having recently celebrated 25 years of marriage, Ray and Patti LeGrand along with their 4 children, ages 14 to 24, have rallied together as he's battled cancer. The LeGrands made Nashville their home for over 10 years from 2003 to 2014 and many know them from their many years of helping to build a strong metal family in Nashville both on and off the stage. Even though they have since moved back to New York and their long term departure for Germany is imminent (July 17th), many of us still call them friends and remember them as a significant part of our metal family. Now, having been diagnosed and treated for cancer, the Nashville metal family has the opportunity to say, "Thank You" and help out one of our own! Ray's cancer was first detected in April of 2015 and was diagnosed 4 months later as squamous cell neck and throat cancer. The doctors recommended surgery as soon as possible to prevent further spreading of the disease. Ray's surgery in November of that same year was only partially successful and included the removal of both his tonsils and a mass at the base of his tongue. Only part of the egg sized mass on the left side of his neck, as it had grown through muscle and nerves, could be removed. The resulting need for chemo and radiation treatments through the end of January 2016 left Ray clinging to life with serious kidney and nerve damage leaving him with numb hands and feet, as well as substantial hearing loss. The radiation caused significant swelling in the throat, resulting in a devastating 100 pound weight loss, difficulty breathing and serious damage to his voice, which doctors say may never be the same again. He also suffered serious muscle loss and has had to endure much in the process of regaining his mobility. Ray recalls twice that the doctors told him, "There is nothing more we can do for you," that his organs were shutting down, and he should get his affairs in order because he was dying. Currently, Ray reports, "I am off all prescription medications, am eating a healthy whole food diet and am working hard to rehabilitate my broken body." Insurance recently denied his request for hearing aids, but the generosity of a friend saw him receiving the donation of an older, used set. In addition to preparing for life in Hamburg, Germany, where he along with his wife Patti and youngest son Reagan will be serving both the European Metal Community (much as they did here in Nashville) as well as the overwhelming needs of the refugees that are pouring into the country, they are dealing with various ongoing expenses related to Ray's recovery. We are grateful to learn he was declared cancer free in April of 2016 and would like to help him stay that way!! As a part of the Nashville Metal Family he loves so much, YOU can have a hand in helping to make a difference by joining us at the show.
