Nexus One / Press

“Pure Hate is bloody good debut release. With crunchy riffs and a throaty vocal style, 15 Minutes of Shame (which presumably is about the vile culture the UK has now of wanting to be famous for doing fuck all) reminded me of Machine Head, way back around the time of Burn My Eyes. And that’s where Nexus One dwell. On the catchy side of Thrash, but with plenty of bite. With the gang shout style vocals on Two Face, I’m also reminded (a bit) of the more metallic side of Biohazard. Another band who rose to prominence 20 odd years ago. So I guess what I’m saying is that if you’re a fan of 90s Thrash, you’ll love this EP. And I’d also say that Nexus One are one of the most promising UK bands I’ve heard in quite a while.”

“First off, that cover art. Second off, a really solid debut EP for a small band from the UK that I've never heard of. Everything in the EP was very well rounded with nothing over-shadowing another. That’s how I saw it, at least. The vocals are rough and have a tone to them that just takes the cake with the subtle brutality that can be clearly heard without having to listen all that hard. The guitars and drums have an excellent rhythm and tone and are 100% synchronized and that makes them all the more better when played together. Alone they’re great, of course, as is usually the case with bands I review. Those who've read previous ones will see the damn pattern. But that’s not the point. The point is that Nexus One is good. Very good. If they can keep their act together and whip up some more EPs and/or full lengths album then Iv'e no doubt that they have the potential to become one of the big metal bands of the UK easily.”

“A self released E.P., played this well, sounding this good and produced by the band, I am astonished and excited by Nexus One at the same time. It adds a different flavour to most thrash with an evil vocal and killer lead work, overlaying a solid rhythm performance, pinpoint accuracy from the drums and resonating bass. I'm sure there will be plenty dying to sprinkle a handful of 'Core' in an attempt to pidgeon hole Nexus One. They can't, the band are doing their own thing and they are doing it well.....................................10/10”
