Naked Remedy / Press

“With a love of bands that do something a little different, seeing the set up of guitar, kick drum, floor tom and a microphone got me hoping these guys might fulfil ... they did! Clever use of guitar effects and playing style created this duo's surprisingly sizeable sound. Very pleasing to the ear. The vocalist (come drummer) is equally clever vocally; powerful and controlled he completed the band's very well written songs”

“In their EP, ‘The Fall of Man’, Midlands-based Naked Remedy have produced a great record infused with, and inspired by a plethora of styles. The simple song structures in the EP are permeated by visceral breakdowns of twinkling guitar riffs, reminiscent of the colourful vitality of ‘70s rock. The musical chemistry between the members of the band is apparent, as is their background of improvisation and musical ad-libbing”

“The evening kicked off with a band that I must confess were new to me. NAKED REMEDY have been described as “the new generation of garage rock and psychedelic blues”. This talented Midlands two-piece consisting of vocalist and drummer Dave Small and guitarist Tom Callinswood, really kicked things off in style. With hard hitting 70′s drumming rock influences to bluesy and soulful guitar riffs these guys have it all. It was just a shame there weren’t too many people that ventured out of the bar to witness this talented duo on stage.”

“And then there is Naked Remedy. If any one of you have not seen or heard of Naked Remedy then you simply aren’t trying! These boys are one of the hardest working bands on the circuit, and, having won the Battle of the Bands 2011, are destined for bigger and better things. But here’s the thing. Motorway breakdowns and accursed fate meant that bassist Nav Sahota was conspicuous by his absence, so what do the ‘Remedies do? Dave Small (drums and vocals) and Dan Callinswood (magic guitar) get right on with it, and tear the place up! Psychedelic blues with a distinctly 70s garage influence, this feels oh-so-right here in the 21st century. On-stage dancers, driving percussion, emotive, passion filled guitar, and several hundred dancing, singing fans, make for a spectacular hour-long performance that will live long in the memory and will have earned them many new fans in the process.”

“Upon returning in the early evening, Naked Remedy was in full force and what a force. There is something really impressive about three piece bands that has always apealed to me.to be able to create a full and awesome sound with just guitar, bass, drums is simply amazing. what is also amazing about Naked Remedy (apart from being enviably slim) is the sheer energy that Dave Small puts into the drums while singing his heart out at the same time. He excels at either, but the combination is simply breath-taking. Their songs are tight, together and tantalisingly brilliant combining MC5 like rawness with a trippy finesse they also do acover of one of my favourite songs;few people have heard of Open Mind's ''Magic Potion'' but the Remedy really do it justice.and i haven't mentioned the raw psychedelic guitar or rock solid bass i guess i like Naked Remedy ! A hard act to follow . . .”

“ When I learned that Riff Raff had cancelled their gig at Drummonds I nearly didn't go, I'd never heard of Naked Remedy, their replacement, but decided to call in and see what they were like anyway. I settled down to see two guys and two guys only take to the stage, Dave Small on drums and vocals and Tom Callinswood on guitar. From the first opening cords I knew I had made the right decision to see the band. Naked Remedy may only have had 2 members but close your eyes and you would have heard a full rock band.”

“Great gig last night, now & again I get a feeling about a band & I have been right! Keep at it, take all the knocks which are bound to happen, you'll get there! ”

“Without a doubt, this souped up, hippy rock band from Worcestershire is one of my favourite unsigned bands from the Midlands. I first heard their EP of which this track, Remedy, features last summer and it still sends shivers down my spine. With vocals harkening roots of 70s rock’s Robert Plant and glam’s Marc Bolan with just a pinch of pseudo southern Black Crowes, Naked Remedy produces some awesome psychedelic and driving rock. ”

“In an earlier interview with Live-Music-Scene, Dave from Naked Remedy described their sound as “A hurricane of freaked-out psychedelic grooves for the 21st century!” So how does the debut self-titled four-track release from this four-piece measure up to that bold statement? From the offset this band aren’t afraid to shake things up. Their sound is a fusion of the classic 70s rock sounds we all know and love, shaken up with a new lease of life, dosed in attitude and style. This energetic band isn’t afraid to over indulge and bring new life to this tried and tested genre. Naked Remedy possess the ability to slip seamlessly between tempos, speeding up and slowing down, keeping your foot tapping at each turn ”

“A ROCK band from Bewdley will play to 10,000 Paul Weller fans, at Birmingham’s LG Arena, this week. Naked Remedy will play before and after the singer’s concert in the arena’s new entertainment zone, ForumLive on Friday, November 26. The three-piece band formed in February last year and is made up of frontman and drummer Dave Small and guitarists Tom Callinswood and Nav Sahota ”

“Having a link shared by someone other than myself on Tuomaslotte's Music Journal Facebook page I was very excited that it lead to the sweet sound of Worcestershire psychadelic rockers Naked Remedy. At the first listen I was hooked to the upbeat, bouncy rhythm and catchy melody, I also loved the vocals. All these elements fit together nicely like pieces in a jigsaw puzzle. Hope to hear more from them and I hope they make an appearance in Southampton soon. ”

“Naked Remedy has been going since February of 2009 and they have an impressive list of gigs played in that time. Their sound manages to serve up a decent dose of rock and roll but remains smooth and sensual at the same time. This four-track EP is a good collection of retro-modern garage rock with an edge and attitude. Swinging guitar solos ring out on 'Freedom', while the spunky drumbeats of 'Lowdown' infuse the disc with a punk flavour. It's quite a raw sound ,no high-tec instrumentation or anything flash, which adds to the effect of the tracks. it's pure and simple, and speaks for itself. The sound is a bit bluesy and oozes cool from every note. The vocals are smoothing and they even manage to tag a version of 'you got the love' on the CD, a track most recently brought to the forefront of popularity by Florence and the Machine”

“A WORCESTER band will play in front of 15,000 people when they support legendary musician Paul Weller. Naked Remedy, who have already shared a bill with Velvet Revolver, Status Quo and Wishbone Ash, have now secured a top gig supporting Weller at the LG Arena in Birmingham. The show, taking place on Friday, November 26, will be a huge opportunity for the young band, who are being described as “the new generation of garage rock”. ”

Laura x" "We had a ball, thanx to everyone involved in organising & to all those who came along, 'Rhondda' xxxx" ”

“Went to The Bunker @ Keystones Worcester on wednesday 3rd feb. Seems like the new venture of having good original and touring bands play there on occasional wednesday nights is paying off. With a suprisingly sizeable audience for mid week, the night started off with an pleasently chilled set from local lads Neil Ivison and Adam Barry. Second half of the night , rocking it up was the band Naked Remedy who displayed a fantastic fiery set of original numbers that got the place jumping. Great stuff! Good night was obviously had by all .”

“One of the best bands around,Anyone wanting to know what the real"X Factor" is check this band out .”

Steve Strain - Music City (Worcester)

“Taking their cues from 70s rock – Zeppelin, The Who, etc. – as well as a more modern garagey feel – White Stripes, Queens of the Stoneage – the freshly-formed Midlanders’ debut has plenty of groove-heavy bluesy guitars and raspy histrionic vocals. The latter can be a little grating, and the record doesn’t hit as hard as it should, but it’s not a bad start.”

“Naked Remedy describe themselves as the “new generation of garage rock”. August sees them release their debut offering, so Live-Music-Scene caught up with Dave, the vocalist from the band to find out about the band that has been described as “QOTSA mating with Led Zep.””

“The final band to close off a brilliant two days of Boozestock were fast-rising stars Naked Remedy. This was the first time that I've seen this bunch of rockers since they formed from the ashes of Aura only a few months ago. It's easy to see why they're going places as they tick all of the boxes in the form of quality, musicianship, sheer entertainment and great tunes. I like the fact they've kept their cover of Somebody To Love in their set as it gives you a great pointer to their 60/70's influenced sound. It also seems that Naked Remedy are pretty well organised on the promotion front as well because, let's face it, there isn't much point in having great songs if nobody hears them. A credit to Will Munn and Chris Bennion for showcasing more of the cracking music we've got on our wonderful local scene - what a treat! ”

“A bluesy classic rock EP that could be the start of something big for the Midland rockers”

“Having performed 120 shows since they formed in 2009, Midlands rock band Naked Remedy have rapidly developed a cult following. They have now recorded a self-titled EP which will be released on 23rd August. ”

“Naked Remedy were the headlining band at last years Masons Music Festival fronted by Dave Small, a wild child of rock and blues, very much in the early Led Zeppelin mould. After some severe negotiating they have agreed to do an "Unplugged" session here at The Masons. I saw them at The Cock & Magpie, Bewdley on an "Open Mike" night, and genuinely they had the audience spellbound. This really is one not too be missed. One day you'll be saying to your friends "I remember when I saw them at The Masons - awesome" Check them out at: www.nakedremedy.com or www.myspace.com/nakedremedylive ”

“NAKED REMEDY: "Naked Remedy" EP RELEASED 23rd August SOUNDS LIKE? There's a lot of chat on the press release about Black Sabbath, Led Zep, Stones and all that, but despite the nifty feedback blasts we know, it's what we do, that Naked Remedy have played to death copies of "Killer" and "Muscle Of Love" and Naked Remedy sound like that. IS IT ANY GOOD? Yes, it's a good sound and it grabs the actual best of the Alice Cooper back catalogue in four, bluesy, boozy, slickly glammed up rockers. WHERE IS IT? www.myspace.com/nakedremedylive”

Shane o' Leary - Unpeeled.net

“Just heard the debut EP for this new band from the Midlands called Naked Remedy, sound is kind of a mix of Queens of the Stone Age, Lynard Skynard and Zeppelin. They have done a rocky cover of 'You got the love' by Candi Staton well worth checking out. see what you think - www.myspace.com/nakedremedylive”

“Birmingham combo NAKED REMEDY fire out their debut offering on the 23rd August. The band’s EP packs a punch and is layered with soaring vocals, riffs galore and tons of bass groove; imagine QOTSA mating with Led Zep. The energetic quartet are playing a host of shows during throughout the summer, see www.nakedremedy.com for details.”

“One of my 2010 discoveries and a band to keep an eye on. This is High Voltage festival potential in the making and the more I hear this EP, the more I fall for them. ”

“At its heart, this is a collection of solid, simple and repetitive riffs and vocals, but the retro appeal of 70's rock, combined with the band's laidback attitude, means this EP is a real grower. Even if you're not a fan of 70's rock, this is worth a listen”

“A Kidderminster band fought off stiff competition to bag first prize in a regional talent contest.Naked Remedy who was formed in January won £2,500 and a recording session after being judged the best act in Worcester's Got Talent 2009 .... More than 150 acts competed and the blues/rock band bagged top spot with their unique songs and style .”

Mark Mudie - Express & Star
