Brian Lambert & My Kickdrum Heart / Press

“The 10-track Dirty Phony Saints (which Lambert also released in acoustic form) indeed bounces between a variety of styles, whether it’s the gleaming pop of opener I Lost My Love to New Orleans, the ’80s throwback vibe of Paranoid Punk or the vaguely rustic Don’t Ask Me. It’s a labor-intensive endeavor — Lambert performed, recorded, produced and mixed the entire LP himself — but one rewarding those in the mood for a little musical adventure.”

“There’s a nostalgic tinge to My Kickdrum Heart. There’s a twang reminiscent of Roy Orbison, and softness of melody that bears some similarity to Ray LaMontagne. Every so often, that cool posture that comes through early-1950s doo-wop crops up.”

“The melodic, twisting tunes allowed listeners to let go of any “hesitations” (which you might hear in the bands newly released single); its echoing, upbeat patterns, building from verse to chorus, are surely worthy of anyone’s listen.”

“its basic music that is full of emotion that goes goes to the core in an instant. The lyrics are just as emotional and powerful, sung with a sense of hope. Expect much from this band in the upcoming months”
