Combining eclectic instrumentation and a musical repertoire ranging from ‘confessionary gospel’ to ‘ramshackle barnyard grumble’ the group’s music is described by Time Off Magazine as ‘songs that sound like old friends even before you’ve heard them’.With a previously ever-changing sea of faces, the time has come for Mr Rascal to consolidate their achievements and focus on the future. Today Mr Rascal comprises a permanent core of multi-talented musicians Christian Duell, Michael Nix, Rebecca Karlen, Grant Davis and David Lee. Together this core band is building on the strength of their previous success to develop a consistency and focus to the sound of Mr Rascal. While maintaining the opportunity for the chance musical encounters and friendships that occur through guest performers, today the strength of this new pool of creative minds is their ability to convey the songs and stories of Mr Rascal with clarity, energy and emotion. In one of their last appearances before a 3 month hiatus (thanks to some OS travel), Mr Rascal are bringing their dynamic and spectacular stage show to the intimate surrounds of the Troubadour. With the recently established permanent lineup, Mr Rascal have been wowing audiences and developing a loyal fan-base with shows across Brisbane and Sydney over the past months.Joined by exciting new Brisbane band Jackalpac this will be a night to remember.

“The debut release for Brisbane’s Mr Rascal…Let it Roll is a surprisingly accomplished slice of slightly surreal singer-songwriter/pop-rock. Let it Roll is a rather remarkable introduction for a new artist and bodes very well for Mr Rascal’s impending full-length A Pocket Full of Smoke.”
